I was thinking about getting a trail camera, and was wondering what is the best/cheapest one to buy. How do these things work in the cold?

Been using a Bushnell Trail Scout Pro this year for deer hunting. Good results with regular flash but pictures still need to be brightened up. I wasn't impressed with the infrared flash pictures. Couldn't distinguish bucks from does in IR mode. The 3 megapixel resolution is good. Four D-cell batteries last about 2 weeks, about 100 pictures, before flash starts missing shots. No experience with other brands, yet.

Been using Bushnell Trail Sentry. It is a no frills digital camera with good quality pics. It takes 4 D batteries and has an outstanding trigger speed. You can get it at Opticsplanet.com for $139.00 with no tax or shipping. I have 3 and have about 6 buddies running them, best value going. It is a ball of fun in the summer and early fall. I have been taking my 3 year old son with me all summer to run cameras and he thinks it is great. Good teaching tool for a boy.

Check out www.hagshouse.com They make some awesome homebrews over there.You might want to build your own,or buy one of theirs.They are better than the store bought ones.JMO

My vote as well. Faster trigger time than cuddeback. They're not IR but for $140, you can buy several. I'm not one to buy into the "no-flash" theory anyway.
