discrete cat removal

Take your favorite high powered .22 caliber rifle and drill the primer pocket out to 1/4". Take a shotgun primer and insert it into the new hole. Grab a .22 caliber pellet and just push it into the case mouth and you have a very quiet pest remover. You can up the velocity with 1-2 grains of bullseye powder.

I've used a bow (compound and recurve) on several cats but you better be good. When they drag your arrow back to the neighbor's yard it could be well, ahem, inconvenient. A sharp broadhead is a must.

White Eagle - I assume you live in a populated area, therefore cannot just shoot the cat and toss it.

I suggest calling animal control, stepping up and talking to your neighbor.

Best yet, send them a bill for cleaning your home. Your cat problems will be over pretty quick after that I suppose.

My favorite is to smoke said pest, pick your death of choice, then put it out by the road. "Awwww sorry to see your cat got hit, neighbor."

I like the 22 CB option, they make some that have a lower velocity, around 750fps? They are deadly when placed right behind the ear. I have had to remove a couple in the last year or so.

I remember a thread awhile back about the 3 s method. Shoot, shovel & shut up.
I've HEARD that the 22 cb shorts are very effective & that it good idea to gut shoot 'em so they run off somewhere else & expire. Also HEARD that a good Remington 22 caliber single shot rifle will shoot 22 cb a lot quieter
than a pellet gun.
I can't remember who told me that so cannot vouch for that information. Sorry! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

I can substantiate the noise (or lack thereof), in my marlin bolt action .22, the firing pin striking the primer (rim)is louder than the shot. The bullet is subsonic, so there's no crack associated with the shot either. It is litterally a quiet "tick" sound. I would feel comfortable shooting it in a backyard with close neighbors, just don't be seen doing it. It can be frowned upon by neighbors and local law enforcement.

Have you tried curiosity? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Cut two pieces 12" x 12" hardware cloth. Put one on the ground and the other where he is marking the territory. Use an cheap extension cord. Cut off the male plug end, strip a little wire, attach each piece of hardware cloth to stripped wire, hang the panels perpendicular to each other with the closest edges at least 4-5" appart. Plug it in. It will not blow as many fuses or trip to many breakers if you use a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interupter), but gets the same job done.

I have had the same problem many times. I would not call animal control or talk to the neighbor, after that fails and you need to resort to the 3 s system, who will they look for when kitty goes missing. I myself use a 5 gal pail with the 22o conibear, I put it out soon as its dark, bring it in before work. no one sees it. besides they don't have any business on my property. neither does their cat. around here, coyotes and cars are the prime suspects for missing cats.

The idea is good, however you must insulate the one on the ground from the ground or use it as the ground (white or neutral wire) the hot one (black or red wire) gets applied to the side of the house.

GFCI or GFI outlets are useless though as the trip time is way too fast, thats what their for. You would be better off with a plain breaker protected circuit 15 to 20 amp. That will give a good shock with out tripping. Better yet make it a 220 circuit, both hot legs.

I've done some cat disposal lately. Gamo CFX with a Beeman Crow Magnum pellet works very well, and it's nice and quiet. Just toss them out in the road and run over them a couple of times. Hey if they assume Fefe got ran over they won't ask questions.

Just dont set poison out for them. My friend talks about such an experience. This guy put out cyanide (industrial?) in a can of tuna opened up and under a tree to catch the cat that tears up the garbage. He did this on saturday night and thought "I'll get up early before sunup and dispose of the carcass". He found about 6 dead cats around the can and a few more in the yard. I dont have a clue about the outcome. This was in a suburb and about 30yrs ago. Makes for a good story.

Probably not a good idea to advertise it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

To avoid cruelty to animals charges, and be a decent man(and responsible hunter/shooter) you should try cleaning the pee areas really well with an enzyme designed FOR THAT then spray it with a repellant.

The ridiculous posts here are why non hunters justifiably hate hunting/guns.

So we are supposed to go buy a bunch of crap to fix a problem that isnt ours? Clean up our house with a smile on our face saying ahhh its just the little kitty next door. Then let said problem go find another spot on the house to do buisness? I dont condone stepping out the front door with the 12 gauge, a nice chat with the neighbor would be in order first.

Wrong....they hate us because we even own a firearm, and we use it to kill animals, and we talk about here on a hunting forum. It hasnt much to do with a thread about a cat problem.

Well I see your the patron saint of all things good and decent. Your post was good till that statement.

I am a "dog person" that also has two cats. Owning cats is like paying a vandal to live in and destroy your home. Every few months I'll walk into the house, and after a minute, ask myself "why is that cat piss odor following me around." DAMNIT, the neighbor's cat sprayed the door mat! They're not my favorite but to hear these guys talk about electrocuting, poisoning and drowning their neighbor's pet is an embarrassment to ANY gunowner and decent AMERICAN. They should shut the hell up.

You're right Furhunter! No guns are acceptable to the extremist anti-gun interests but we lose a lot of fence sitters when retards on an internet forum talk about killing their neighbor's pets- that's wrong and I don't care who you are.

I believe that if they really wanted the cat they would keep the sob in their house. It seems to me that they are willingly letting their kitty out in harms way everytime they open the door and don't have felix on a leash. So my thoughts are I am actually doing them a favor by getting rid of their cat that they put out anyway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif....Now before you all get in a fight over my neighbors cat /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif getting rid of a cat that by definition is in a feral state has nothing what so ever to do with hunting.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Besides I haven't figured out how the end will come for poor poor kitty /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
