Also, for those with DISHDVR, can you watch one program and record another at the same time? I can't seem to find that function... I sure hope it has it.

yes, that is possible. i don't have a dish dvr so i can't tell you how to do it.... but people i know have them and they can do it.

I've had the dvr for a year know and I have never been able to watch one show and record another. I have had people swear to me that they can but when I ask how they never seem to remember how they set it up. If anyone knows I would appreciate the info. I do like the caller id feature that my reciever has. You never have to get up and check your phone the number just comes up on the screen. I switched to dish after battleing directv for years.

and now dish no longer carries the outdoors channels or the water channel..... or court tv!! i'm going back to digital cable.

I know! They just took it not too long ago didnt they?

That's strange. I'm still getting the outdoor channel and what used to be outdoor life which is now versus. Ya'll try channel 153, I am watchin' it now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I may be wrong, I going from my experince with Directv but to watch one channel while recording another you have to have both receivers within the DVR hooked up.

It works easy on Directv

if you go to dishnetwork.com, they have all the user's manuals. they are slightly different depending on what receiver you have. and yes, that caller id is pretty neat!

I can, but may have a different reciever than you, mine is an HD/DVR and has 2 outputs. Let me explain it alittle. I have a 50" Sony in my living room, and a 32" in my bedroom, my son has a 19 in his room. I can watch one channel in my living room, and another in my bedroom/sons room. I have one reciever and two remotes, 1 for the living room, the other for the bedroom/sons room. Whatever is on the tv in the bedrooms, its on both those tv's, I can watch something different on the living room tv. I tell you all this because when the dvr record menu comes up I can choose to record it on TV1 or TV2, I can record a program on TV2(bedrooms) while watching something different on TV1. Now if you turned on one of the bedroom TV's thats whats going to be on, and you cant watch something else without stopping the recording. Same goes for TV1(living room) If I am recording something on TV1 I have to be watching it. The bedroom units get little use so I always record on TV2 it allows me to watch something else on the big tv. No matter which TV1 or TV2 a program is recorded to, it can be played back on any tv in the house.

Clear as mud?

Its a pretty cool reciever but heres where it stinks, All the TV's in the house are LCD HD units, but the reciever can only output HD on the TV1 output, So I am paying for the HD service but can only watch it on the 50" in the living room, the other ones only get the regular picture. I can however record an HD program on TV2 and play it back in HD on TV1, if you where going to ask that question.

i just checked their web site and it does show channel 153 available in my area, but now i have to upgrade to get it! what a rip off.
