DM/BDL bottom metal options

I have a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle with a factory detachable magazine chambered in 7mm-08. Since nobody makes an aftermarket stock for factory Rem detachable magazines, what do I have for options in different bottom metal for this rifle?

Thanks
Steve

Bell and Carlson also makes them. Just have to call in your order and let them know you want the DM cuts in the stock.

I would just go with an AICS patterned DM. PTG is a good way to go and not too expensive. I don't know how the footprints vary between the factory DM and the AICS M5. I would suspect there may have to be some additional inleting of your existing stock.

This is not a simple thing from my understanding as many of your are stating, however, I could be very wrong.

McMillan does not inlet for the factory Remington DM and Bell and Carlson doesn’t either.

From my understanding the feed ramps are wider causing many of the detachable magazines from not feeding properly.

Remington no longer offers a detachable magazine with a mountain barrel channel, only sporter weight channels.

Correct...the Remington DBM system fed from the mag and the feed rails on the action were opened up to do it.

However, when using an AICS type, the round feeds from the mag without modification.

I have 2 McMillans with Remington DMs. If you talked to McMillan I would call back and ask another person, but I would wait until next week as a bunch of them go to Shot Show. I took them my barreled action which I do whether it is a DM or not. They are only 25 min from my house. They did one in the last year and a half.

PTG makes a drop in for a BDL inlet. Their AICS BM is also very good. I ran one for a while and it worked flawlessly. Grayboe and Mesa Precision also make AICS pattern DBM units for under $200

I believe this is what he may be referring to. It is designed to fit a BDL inlet (obviously not what you have), but may be an option. As opposed to this which is the M5 footprint designed for AI style magazines. If you are having to inlet the stock to get either to fit, I would go with the M5 footprint and run the AI mags.
