Do coyotes eat deer?

If they are not hungry they will not bother him until they get hungry. quote,

and hes keeping these coyotes for teaching his dogs how to track them????
You will find here on PM that most of the men and women, kids also love to predator hunt, most of them its thier favorite. alot of the men respect the predators themselves! especialy the bobcat.

Where you are it may be for fun but here since hardly anybody hunts them they are a nuissance. I saw 4 cats in one deer stand last year. We have far to many.

boy id definatley love to hunt there,
id take a bobcat over a deer in a minute..

but like you said, your used to seeing them there. they are very sneaky and definatley nocturnal here!

Wait until they get hungry and you will see them. As far as hunting here, all are welcome if you will shoot every predator you see. You would be suprised at how many of both we have. It is hard to raise fawns in the wild. According to the conservation dept only 15% of our fawns are surviving due to predators. I make my living on deer hunts and these blood suckers are going to get thinned down.

Once a cat mugs up on its prey and gets it jaws on its throat it is all over. Pound for pound a cat is a tough customer. I agree that the coyote will have more stamina but I doubt the cat would let a one on one conflict go on until stamina was an issue. I believe the cat would win in the first round. If it went ten rounds the coyote just might win, but I would bet he would be a bloody mess.

i for one believe that they would not do battle to death... both have to much to risk a severely wounded wild animal doesn't stand much of a chance, thats why they pefer flight over fight. on the other hand a domiscated animal(dog)will lay it all out on the line for you, he knows he has a meal at the end of the day that he doesn't have to catch, fresh water to drink that he doesn't have to walk 3/4 of a mile to get, a warm dry place to sleep and not feel threatened at any time. these are huge differences. ask yourself why would it take 3 or 4 greyhounds that weigh 60 to 80 lbs to whip a 30 lb coyote? would it take the same to whip a bobcat? not even close, i have taken several with terriers over the years and i willl agree with deer boy... a big coon has way more fight than any bobcat iv'e ever caught with my dogs. maybe i'm lucky but my dogs rarely take any damage when dealing with a cat.the other side of the coin i wouldn't wish my 15 to 17 lb dogs on a coyote as i can guarentee it would turn out bad.here is just one of the cats taken out of a brushpile with these 2 dogs, by the time they engaged battle it was over within minutes, the cat had expired by the time i dug down to them.the blk/tan dog did all the damage as the white dog is a straight locator / bayer.the blk/tan dog was tired but as you can see no damage to him at all.

I can't much like a guy that throws bobcats into a pen with coyotes "for food." I don't care the reasoning behind it either.
