I haven't heard them at all since last winter.
fall and winter I would hear several groups howling.
this spring and summer I haven't heard anything.
Is this normal?

They usually shut up when the kids are at home. Don't want to draw any attention to the family. They'll start up again here pretty quick.

Hey YSB! Glad to see your still chasin them. Maybe we can meet up for a hunt soon as this heat lets up. Still looking forward to it-Mike.

yes i'm still after'em I had a rather close encounter Yapping the yote pup distress on the foxpro over in circleville,I had a yote jump up out of the bush 10 feet away from me.Of course my scope was set on 9 power by the time I got it on target all could see was a puckered starfish and a swingin sack hauling at high gear.
If i had a handgun or a shotgun he would have been toast.
Lesson's learned I guess..

They've been howling all summer long at night, here in Iowa. Pups have began joining in on the howling lately. We were out locate howling for some new areas, a couple weeks ago, we got responses on 80-90% of the time. This is all at night, though.

I have heard coyotes howl 365 days a year around my house here in the desert. Sometimes it's a whole pack, sometimes it just one. But I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don't hear at least one howl.

I started a new job yesterday and my hours changed now I am up before dawn and when I went to work this morning I could hear them in a patch of woods that is across a corn field from me
