Do you ever call with the wind at your back?

Or never cared, or had no reason to associate that smell with danger. A police k9 can track a person for miles just by shoe scent from a running suspect. Those yotes smelled you and the caller, they just didnt have a reason to react to it.
Yo that's a fresh take thanks for the laugh hah

I do it all the time, have for 35 years or so. Not all the time but if I have to I will, it don’t bother me. I’m not driving all around an area trying to get a perfect setup for 1 stand. Sometimes I take what I can get without disturbing the area, which to me is worse.

As a trapper, a coyote knows I was there when I set a trap, yet I still have first night catches. My best timed catch was a tad under 3hrs from set to coyote dancing at the end of the chain…confirmed by trail cam placed to watch the set.
It all depends on that particular coyote and his mood. I’ve lipped squeaked them on a bright moon light to within 50yds of the White trucks drivers side window. I’ve had first night catches after sweating so much on the trap it cleaned the pan off. I’ve had coyotes bypass a set 2 nights in a row and make a beeline for the set on night 3…forecasted wind was identical all three nights.
Even with all that, I never intentionally set a caller with the wind at my back when calling. It does happen a lot down here, but my initial wind was generally in my face or a good crosswind, lol.
