Do you think there will come a time when........?

With the growing popularity of predator calling do you think there will come a time when we see a dramatic decline in these predators? Do you think that they can keep up with the increased amount of hunting pressure they receive? The habitat loss of the ever expanding human growth. Do you think there may come a time when these animals become so call wise that it will be a feat to call one in?

I don't mean to sound like I have a negative outlook on the situation but it does give
you something to think about.

Opinions ???

Thats a good one buddy, I don't think Coyotes will ever have a problem, some of the others like cats and fox? I dont think you got to worry about hunters , I think you need to worry about money hungry people building houses were they live, I've seen alot of that in southern California. What gets me is they wonder why Mt.Lions, Bears and Coyotes are in there back yards eating there dogs and cats and in some cases eating people. To be honest, predator calling has been around in the southwest for many years, the only thing I've seen happen is the coyotes get smarter and harder to call, I really think in some areas they go to anti predator calling school hehehe, GOOD HUNTING.

I think there is no need to worry. I assure you that Southern California is about as suburban as is possible. Do we have predators? Many of them. I have coyotes in my back yard, killing my pets. Can't do a damn thing about it. We have many gray fox and bobcat in the local mountains. It is very difficult to hunt them. You even need something called an "Adventure Pass" just to park inthe local mountains. Almost santuary, by my definition. We had a mountain lion removed and destroyed at the Montclair Plaza, a very large Shopping Center. (mall type place) About two years ago. Lions are protected much better than humans.

No, you won't see the predators suffer. Humans will voluntarily curtail their freedoms, and the freedom of others, to protect all manor of wildlife, needed or not. The extinct species will be the Varmint Hunter; mark my words.

Good hunting....while it lasts, LB

Well look at the current age demographics. Then look at the interests of most (not all) of the generations that are following right behind us. Before long an unproportionate part of the population will start disappearing leaving a population that will only hunt if it can be done with the click of the mouse or a joy stick on a video game.

Yes there will be some hunters, but unless we kill all the game now there will be plenty for replenishment for them. But as I see it in 20 years-then 50-then 100--maybe the predators we hunt now will be even more abundant because the pressure will decrease due to lack of interest/participation in hunting.

Predator hunting is booming now but look at the age group on this board. I have two grandsons that are beginning to hunt now. Hopefully they will continue to enjoy it into adulthood and include thier kids. All we can do is make the opportunity available and provide the tools and choices. If we are lucky they will use the tools properly and make the right choices.

If they are lucky there will still be land to hunt on. If the land is there - the coyotes will be there. imho
Thanks for your time,
Ken

oh did i mention this does not take into consideration what ever the feds might think is best for us all at any given time.

HELL NO,we won't run out of coyotes to call and shoot. If the coyotes can survive the 60's,70's,80's,and 90's with guys like Danny and Leonard slaying the hell out of them,I think them coyotes can survive just about anything.Including a Nuculear Holacaust.

alright, i don't know whether to post a new topic or just ask this here? We have alot of coyote around here that will just flat out not come to a call. When we go out west we do the exact same thing and kill up to 7 or 8 per day. There is alot more human population right here but the coyotes are pleaty full too. What possibly can i do about it?

I just returned from town and about three block from my house a coyote trotted across the road in front of me. It stopped between two bushes at the side of the road and stood there looking at me from about 30 yards away for a couple of minutes before loping away. Had I been so inclined I could have shot it except for the fact it was standing less than 50 yards from two different occupied homes. The coyote was not alarmed by me being there, but appeared curious as to why I stopped.

I don't think the numbers of predators will decrease because just like this coyote, they will adapt to the encroaching world. I do believe that someday it will be difficult to find a place to hunt them.

Take care,
Daryl

I don't think that through hunting alone we will ever do any significant damge to predator populations. I read that you gotta kill at least 60% of the population for a number of years to make a dent, no way does that happen!
Plus thier best trait is the ability to adapt to any situation. They definately do that well for sure! I saw one in town the other day eating a squirrel on main street.

UTcaller, when the nucular holacaust happens, what will be left, is the rat, cockroach, and the coyote, and the coyote will eat the rat and the cockroach.. it wil survive.
