Does anyone make shooting sticks that are worth using?

Go get two 3/8 or 1/2"fiberglass electric fence post from feed store or tractor supply. They are less than 2 dollars a piece. They are already sharp on one end for pushing them in the ground. Also pick up some castration bands (same thing used on open reed calls) and slide a couple on the poles at the pivot point. And your done! and they are already grey in color. a pack of like 200 bands in about 2 bucks. cheap and it works great!!! And they are very light weight.

I know you said you don't want to make a set, but my simple shooting sticks are very light, maneuverable, and versatile. 2 .5" dowel rods, a leather string, and a camo spray paint pattern, and I bet you already have most of that already. Simply tie the leather string around the two sticks and it can slide up/down to fit any elevation needed for each particular stand. From real high to way low like a bipod. Throw a glove or bandanna or whatever over the crotch to keep from scuffing your stock and you're walking away with some good sticks for less than $8...

This is what I have been using, great out of the deer blind also!

I have tried all the above and still have a couple that have survived. Just bought the bog pod tri and swore I would NOT spend the money on tripod, especially the bog pod. Well, now I am eating crow, I won't need another. I can use it sitting, kneeling, and standing. Works on uneven ground great, swivels, and can adjusts to the height u need by extending the legs or just spreading them wider. I can keep my rifle on it while my shotgun is on my lap and not worry about the rifle tipping forward or back when wheeling the shot gun.

Spend the money once or spend the money 4 to 5 times until you end up figuring it out. I thought the bog pod was just another marketing gig that was way over priced, but after pricing up the versa pods, the stoney points, and the heavy and clunky harris bipods I have bought, I am kicking myself for not buying one sooner.

The harris bipods are great for shooting varmints when not on the move, but don't care for them when having to be more mobile.

Johnny Stewart's sticks are the best bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with them if you don't have the coin.

There are lots of homemade shooting sticks that work reasonably well, but IMO, the Bog Gear HD3 is the best unit on the market. I had Snowcamoman test a set out in Alaska and he says they are the best he has ever seen. Any position from sitting to standing, level or uneven ground, they provide a solid rest that won't sell out on you.
