Does applying camo vet wrap to gun barrel affect point of impact?

I just finished applying McNett's Camo Form wrap, which is basically vet wrap to the entire length of my barrel including the forend of my stock to cut down on shine and to camo my rifle. I also put it on my scope. After applying it, I began to wonder how will it affect my point of impact for my rifle, as it may affect the harmonics of my barrel. Does anyone have any experience with this and will applying vet wrap affect my point of impact? I have a coyote calling contest this weekend and I won't be able to make it to the range to verify my point of impact before then. I really don't want to have to take it all off, but I will if it is going to make a big difference and possibly cause me to miss a coyote as a result. Thanks for all the help in advance.

I see no difference in accuracy on my rifle. I shoot alot too, with it wrapped. I have papered my .204 out to 400 yards with it on and off, no difference. The first time I wrapped mine was right before a contest too and I didn't have time to paper it, same as you. My first coyote of the contest was at 320 yards, it raced through my head over and over that it might shoot off right before I pulled the trigger. To my releaf, bang, flop. After the hunt I papered it. No difference.

I wrapped my 30-06 during the middle of the deer season (after I had sighted in my rifle). I was able to hit my deer exactly at the point of aim.

Now, don't take this the wrong way, cause I shore'nuff don't mean nothing bad by it.

If you're a good enough shot and knowledgeable enough to WORRY 'bout the way camo vet tape might affect the harmonics of barrel resonation, then my guess is, you're a good enough shot that you ain't got much to worry 'bout.

(my point behind this is that I never even THOUGHT of that being possible and I'm an OK shot. If you did think about it, My guess is you'r patterns are measurably smaller than mine)

good luck to ya and I don't think I'd worry about the tape.

go get 'em

Is your rifle bedded?

WOLFROMWV, my rifle is not bedded? It is a factory Remington 700. Would the rifle being bedded make a difference?

Thanks everyone for all the responses so far. It sounds like I don't have anything to worry about.

Wolf, you do have me interested in the issue about the rifle being bedded though.

If the rifle IS bedded, you'll probably pull your aim off if you wrap it, because you'll pull the barrel back down to the stock.

If it's not wrapped, it still contacts the stock, so you should be able to wrap away.

If your rifle is not bedded you should always take a shot on paper to confirm that the point of Impact has not changed if you take the gun apart.I wrapped on of my Remington 700's and It did not effect the point of impact. Now if you are hunting with a gun that has not been bedded why don't you read up on it and do it yourself it is really not hard. I started out by bedding my Knight muzzle loader just to get some hands on experience working with the bedding compound and then moved on to bedding my friends gun that was shooting so bad I really could not hurt it. The gun went from shooting 3'' groups to shooting a 3 shot .300 group at 100 yards.
