Yesterday my dad and I got to go to lunch with our friend Anthony and our new friend Don Frye. For those of you who do not know him he is a MMA fighter and a coyote hunter.

Right on! One of my favorite MMA fights is Don Frye VS Ken Shamrock (Don stomped him into a mud-hole!).

Tell him if he ever makes it up to Western Oregon, he is (more than) welcome go predator calling with me anytime!

Pack an extra sammich so you don't have to fight Don for the last one.

If you want to see a real fight, watch his fight against Takayama on youtube.

Tell Don to have fun and good luck, he earned some good times out hunting. Much respect, he was always a true competitior and excellent representative for MMA. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Don is a great guy, I had an oppertunity to train with him years ago and had a blast. If he gets to So. Oregon the same offer is open /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Still training ACLakey?

I was training 2-6 hours a day 6 days a week at NWMA in Eugene a couple of years ago. Did it for about 9 months, and at 35 years old got into the best shape of my life (by far).

One of my training partners (Evan Dunham) just fought in that last UFC that was in England, and smashed his Swiss opponent in the first round. One of my trainers (Ben Baxter) was in his corner.

Trying to get my life situation back to where I can do that again. It's a great lifestyle.

Family and life have gotten the way the past 12 years but I do get some matt time now and again. You trained at a great gym!! I met Megaton while doing JKD and he is amazing. If it is the same NWMA group I trained with them years ago when they were doing it in one of the guys back yard. Not sure if it is the same group though. Here a brief bio of myself.

I have done Martial Arts most of my life, my Dad was a Judo player in his collage days. I did the standard Mc Dogo stuff until collage then started down the JKD path. I was an apprentace instructor under Jerry Mounts in Vunak's PFS system. I then was introduced to BJJ at a SBG seminar and my training changed course again. I trained with the SBG guys out of Euegene in the early to mid 90's from time to time, then I met Randy Couture and trained with his group as much as I could for the next few months. Driving clear across the state for weekend training sessions sucked but I never regretted it. I got into MMA but shattered my hand in training and after the surgeon put the pieces back together I was advised to lay off. I reinjured it while training sticks in a PFS seminar and had it put back together again. No fighting but I still train a bit...fun stuff.

Yea it sounds like the same NWMA to me. That was probably Harold, or Brian's backyard, huh? Roots in Progressive Fighting System, they went to Ricksons's BJJ seminar before the very first UFC happened.

They have come a long way since then, and are very established. I think they have at least three black belts under Megaton there now (no easy task as you know).

Mr. Frye donated a predator hunt for a fundraiser raffle for PVCI. Next month it will be promoted on the Phoenix Fraternal Order of Police website, PVCI.org. , PredatorProfessionals Forum and hopefully this forum and any others that will let the club advertise it.
So if you would like to spend a day calling coyotes with Don Frye you can contact me for tickets cuz I'm the new fund raising chairman for Phoenix Varmint Callers Inc.

If you would like tickets message me with your name and I will contact you when we have the tickets lined up. We are planning on pulling the winning ticket in September and the hunt will be in October.

Honestly, only one person want's to hunt with Don "the predator" Frye? I have only had one person say they would like the chance to hunt with him. The man is a legend in the sport of MMA and wants to get more into hunting coyotes. Who would like to have a hand in on that experience?

Oh, I'd love to hunt with him. I just don't have the money or free time to get to Arizona. If I was rich I'd be there in a heartbeat. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

+1

Hey Tyler,

I think it's more about the time of year right now and the economy.

Anyone that has seen this guy compete and knows his abilities would love to hunt with him! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif
Just meeting him would be a gas!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Just keep promoting this and it will pick up! Very COOL!

Nikonut, I think your right but we wanted it to be a successful hunt so that's why we set it up for October when there are still easy coyotes to call in and get a good number of them to respond. But I figured that many of you guys are fans and would love the chance to meet him and get the chance to hunt with him, that's why I thought I would let you guy's know about it.
