double smothered hamburgers

truly, this is a burger idea that is only limited by your personal creativity and taste buds. feel free to adapt this freely! i dont think i've ever made these the same twice.

Burgers: place all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. then form into patties and grill.

1½ lbs hamburger
2-4 tbsp finely minced onions
1-2 tsp finely minced garlic
italian herb blend
cracked black pepper
sea salt
splash of soy
splash of teriyaki

while the burgers are grilling, carmelize in a saute pan the following (if you have a side burner on your grill even better)
½ - vidalia onion, julienned
4 oz mushroom blend - shiitake, oyster, crimini
1 tsp - minced garlic
sea salt & cracked pepper
italian herb blend
olive oil

when the onions and mushrooms are nicely caramelized and the burgers are ready, top them with your saute pan of deliciousness

add on the cheese of your choice put your rolls on the bun warmer rack, reduce heat and melt cheese and warm/toast buns

i found some nice pretzel buns at the store & decided to top these with mild cheddar

spread with some guacamole and serve!

kettle chips complimented this nicely.

i didnt see a recipe sub forum anywhere, if there is - can someone please point me in the right direction so i can put it there? thanks!

Holy canoli Plant, those look absolutely delicious. I'll have two and a jumbo fry to go please. BTW there is a subforum here just below the mods names. Look up in the member clubhouse header. It's called the Redneck Kitchen however this may justify a Cordon Bleu subforum. LOL

guilty as charged, at one point i spent 10 years in kitchens, many of them 3-4 diamond resorts as well as culinary school. so when its time to cook... well what i consider basic ... many consider a bit over the top

i'll be more than happy to share other stuff as i get bored and decide to throw stuff together - and i'll even use the proper forum too... now that i know where to find it

like i said - its an absolutely adaptable recipe - make it completely to your taste preferences.

some variations as to the inside the burger stuff include (all veggies minced finely) and not in any specific combination of course...

black/kalamata olives, bell peppers, sun dried tomato's, tomato paste, A1, sweet baby rays, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, egg, dill pickles... the possibilities are endless & limited only by your imagination.

the same kinda of idea goes for the outside .... go nuts with your imagination. if it can go on a burger, and you think it tastes good there's really no wrong answer

happy grilling!

We do the same thing, very rarely are the burgers the same. One of our favorites is to grill a portabello mushroom top for each burger, we like the way gorgonzola cheese goes melted on the burger with the mushroom on top. It's hard to beat home grown tomatoes too.

We butchered two of our Scottish Highlands, a bull and a cow, the bull is actually better. The hamburger from these has spoiled us forever, it makes the best meatloaf we've ever had. We have been eating the heck out of burgers with this stuff.

A friend made a two layer burger and put cheese, diced caramelized onion, and bacon on the inside, that was pretty killer too.

Making big fat burgers like that we've never seen the need for two patties on each, but to each his own.
