Double vision through my binos

Last couple of months I’ve struggled to get a clear field of vision through my Vortex Diamondback 10x42 binos. I have used them groundhog hunting 2 to 3 times a week the past couple months. At times I suspected my 60 year old eyes, at other times I suspected the binos. Today I noticed I was getting a pretty bad double vision just looking at stuff in the yard and assumed they had finally really gone bad. But I grabbed my old Bushnell 10x42 binos, looked at the same stuff, and it was also double vision. So I guess it is me. I do need to wear readers but I can still see a groundhog poke his head up 100 to 200 yards without glasses, I just need the binos to really pull it into clear vision. Anybody else dealt with this and able to do something where you can still scout things out with your binos?

Close one eye???

Just joking!

I am curious as to the answers you'll get.

I turned 70 in January, and I keep my glasses on when using bino's.

I'd check with an ophthalmologist. I have macular degeneration in my right eye which causes a phantom horizontal crosshair in my rifle scopes. Took me a long time to figure out why I was getting vertical stringing in my groups.

Get to an opthomogist preferably instead of an optometrist!!! But get to who you can see the quickest.
Having 1 eye that works is not the end of the world but it aint like havin 2 by NO MEANS. Coming up on 3yrs for me.

What wolverines said. I’ve had this happen more the last couple years. I’m not sure why bringing them closer together clears things up, but it does for me. My eyes are shot in both up close and distance. I hate wearing bifocals so I live life in a blur most often. I prefer my contacts for distance only when hunting and throw on cheaters for up close stuff.

I think if I read his post correctly, he had double vision when looking in the yard w/o binocs. That is why I gave the answer I did.
If not the case, it could be as stated above, or the prisms may have moved in one of the barrels and needs culminated (but I doubt that is the case since it appeared in 2 diff. optics).

Both my eyes are the same -1.25 I get the same double vision with binos. I dial in one eye, then the other and tweak how far apart the binos are, then fine tune.

I’m following the standard procedure to adjust the binos. Get Left eye sharp, then right eye using diopter as needed, then use the center adjuster to tweak it. And obviously open/close so it is centered on both eyes. Seems weird it started out of nowhere which is why I was suspicious of something going wrong in the binos. It sure seems that way.

When this happens to me, I play with how far apart the eye pieces are on the binos. Usually moving them closer together solves my issue with double vision.
For at least 60 years now I have always had to have the eye pieces as close together as they will go to be able to see through my binoculars. I wear glasses all the time so that may have something to do with it.
