I was wondering if anyone had this particular gun and what they thought of it. Can a sling stud be added to the front of it so my Stoney point bipod could be used? Is it fairly accurate and will it shoot both 5.56 and .223? Any help is greatly appreciated as my dealer is running a sell on them right now for around $600. Thanks in advance, Josh
 

The no forward assist, and no ejection port cover, are deal
breakers for me. If one is always going to shoot new brass
cased factory ammo, the no forward assist MIGHT be OK, but
any ammo or dirty chamber issue is going to frustrate the
owner of upper receivers without a forward assist. Also, no
port cover on an AR-15, in the field means you will have
issues where a forward assist will come in handy...Not to
mention I hope you like breaking it down for debris removal.
The only thing about the "Sportical" that is attractive
is the price.

I think it's a great gun for the money. I have had mine for a little over a year and hadn't had a time where I thought I needed the forward assist. I have only broke it completely down once, and have never had it jam. I keep mine lubed and in a case when not in use to prevent dust from getting into the action. As far as accurracy, I bought a bunch of wolf, and it shoots about an inch group at 50 yds with a 5 moa red dot sight. With ultramax, I was getting about 1.25" groups at 100 with it. I'm sure with better ammo, it could do better. I do wish it came with a front swivel stud, I had to buy an attachement with rails that went around the handguards to attach a sling. The handguards a bit big. The trigger has a lot of creep and is pretty heavy. You might look into, I think DPMS came out with a similar gun with the forward assist and dust cover for about $759 msrp.

Sonju is building an upper with no forward assist as well. I think it's a mistake.
The cost is minimal and the benefits are obvious. SCAR's are the new kid on
the block and everyone will be turning their attentions toward them in a few
years. Modifying the foundations of the AR now don't make good business sense in that light.
 
No one has answered your original question so I'll take a swipe at it. BLUF: yes.

If you leave the original hand guards on it you will need to get the rail that screws onto your lower hand guard that is partial or full length and provides picatinny mounting slots, buy the sling adapter that mounts to that or get a set of quad rail hand guards and the adapter. All the stuff you need to do it with is available through Cheaper than Dirt or any of the many other mail/internet places that have AR 15 accessories.

I had a SPortical 308 last year that would shoot under an inch with anything that i put in it..I didn't ever have a need for a forward assist... pretty decent guns for the money in my opinion...Robbie
 
I have never owned an ar or shot one for that matter so I have no idea what you guys are talking about when it comes to forward assist. Could you please explain. Also im not sure I will end up liking an ar as well as I do my bolt actions is why I was looking into getting an entry level one that way I dont drop alot of money into something im not going to like. I havent made up my mind completely yet and i will look into other alternatives. Is there another ar out there in the same price range that may be a better option? Thanks, Josh
 
i wouldnt worry about it not having a foward assit or a dust cover never used mine probably wont either just keep it clean and you should be good to go. i have the DPMS AP4 which is around 100-200 more might be an option as it comes with sights and sling swivels and you can put a scope on later
