DPMS vs Rock River

So I guess I should buy one of each. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Should I go right through RRA or go through somewhere else to buy one.

I like my DPMS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif I looked at the RR it was a little more $$$ I didn't think there was much difference. Mine shoots great DPMS Bull Sweet Sixteen.

I've always wondered, can that picatinny light/laser mount be turned so that the rail is UNDER the barrel or off to one side of the barrel?

If you are referring to the gas block, the answer is no. It has to be orentated a specific direction so that the gas hole on top of the barrel directs gas into the block.

There are, however, other gas blocks that do have the rails on the sides and bottom.

I can not speak to the DPMS because I have never owned one.

I have owned 2-BushMasters-I will never buy another one.

I bought a new RR Varminter with a 20" barrel. It is one of the most accurate factory firearms I have ever seen. It will consistently shoot 1" 3 shot groups at 300 yards with Black Hills 50 grain V-Max factory ammo. I recommended one to a friend and his will shoot 1-1/2 inches at that distance. We are very impressed with the rifles.

I own several Colt's, and they do not shoot much better than the BushMaster's. I have kept the Colt's because some people are just nuts about them, but IMO a Colt will not shoot with a RR. Tom.

Well [beeep] I'm just going to take my DPMS out and throw that peice of crap in the trash after that post I guess it just sucks in all ways. I thought it was kind of like Ford and Chevy. DPMS started 20 years ago and is now a part of Remington and Bushmaster

Nooo Don't do it

any AR is better than no AR

I have a RRA carbine that with the proper reloads will shot as good as my DPMS 24" Panther shooting factory ammo
the trigger is horrid and I have swapped out lowers and have assembled a rrdpms combo that is really nice

AHHH....OK, thanks! I'm not yet an AR owner so I'm trying to learn a few things before I buy my first. I need a copy of "ARs for Dummies." I thought that was only an accessory rail, so thanks for straightening me out.

Let me make this simple..........

Honestly I think its more of.....which one can you get your hands on right now.

If I was in the maket, I wouldnt wait 9 months for brand A, if I could buy brand B tomorrow.

Brand A and B are very well built rifles, they both go bang when you pull the triggger, and most likely are accurate enough to hit and kill what your aiming at. So I ask again.....which one will get you shooting sooner?

I have an RRA upper on a DPMS lower. They work together pretty well. The only thing I want is a better trigger. Supposedly RRA has a pretty good trigger.

Yotezapper, quit yer farting around and go talk to the guy across the road from you with an FFL or Bob down at the hardware store. Have him order you a RRA Predator Pursuit and be done with it. It'll likely take a few months to get it, but you'll love it once you have it. Then I'll come out next fall and we'll light up the whole eastern side of Montana with hot lead and dead yotes.

RRA!

I have the DPMS 24" bull barrel, mine isn't a factory shipped AR - I ordered the parts I wanted from DPMS and put it together but anyway I agree that the factory trigger isn't good - it has always shot excellent but the new trigger did make a bit of difference. I have shot a few 5 shot 100 yard groups under .5" I have heard good things about RRA too and I wouldn't hesitate buying either one! I just don't think I'd go as far as "HANDS DOWN" one way or the other - not that big of a difference if ANY...

Dawgpound77 whats with all the bleeped out words? This is a friendly place man!! Back to the topic. I would also suggest that you look at stag as well as Armalite, and Olympic arms. Oly arms has probably the very best barrel of all the production ar,s mentioned here. All the makers these days have to put out quality rifles. If they didnt they wouldnt be around long. There is just to quality out there not to make a great product. Stay with a well know maker and get what you can find in the configuration you want. From what i read, and i read a ton, all the top makers varmint rifles will shoot sub moa. Most rifles i would guess would out shoot 90% of the guy behind it no matter what the name brand is, as long as it is a quality builder. Don't get to rapped up in name brands, bandwagoneers. If your on a budget look at OLY arms k-8 or k-16. that's a heck of an accurate rifle. Lee

I got my RRA from Adam, you should call and talk to him, has them in stock the A4 Varmint & the Predator Pursuit....get your forum discount also...$1135 to my ffl.
Do not go by his auction prices....got to call for the best price.
I now have 2 R15s and 1 RRA....all right at .50-.75" @ 100yds.

Legal transfer has the very best price on rock river and stag but you have to call pete and you have to wait for the rifle to be built. I think lead time is close to 6 months at rock river now. Just google Legal transfer ar-15 sales. Lee

I want a RRA in the 16" Coyote Carbine in the standard options. I have been told it will be 8-12 months by RRA.

I am thinking the 6.8 caliber. The guy I talked to said the military was dropping the .223 and moving to the 6.8 caliber. Any thoughts?

+1 on Adam at Wise Wildlife Solutions.

1 week between when I talked to him on the phone and when I opened the blue box...Monday to Monday. Done. Got it. No waiting for Taxbama to change things.
