Drag scents

What are some of you guys using on your drags. I like using a coyote tail but I don't get out enough to keep fresh drags all the time. I've made a drag and was curious what scents seem to work best for you all.

I take the entire hide off of whatever animal I am training for, cut it into 6" x 20" strips, salt it in the referigerator for about 7 days and then use them for drags, tug a war, and just a constant reminder of the correct scent they should be chasing.

I always keep the legs whole, and give them as a chew toy... but keep in mind, I train for deer and hogs.

ive had some tails that are from last summer. they are tore up a little but still work. i just spray a little coyote urine on them every once in a while. there are probably better scents to spray on them but that is what i did. 3 or 4 tails have lasted me a long time. i dont use them now that my dog knows his job but i guess i could if i wanted to.

thats wat i needed Jesse when I was teaching my dog to trail, but all i had at the time was some cheap coyote urine. i thought it was better than nothing.

but I could tell that he thought a live coyote was real close and i think it made him hesitant at first to take off and haul a$$ to it. he was just a pup then. but after he did it a few times, he would take off and go straight to it and find the tail.

Thanks for the help guys I've trained stock dogs my whole life but this will be my first go at a decoy dog. Hope she turns out ok.
