What exactly does the NY ban say? Are you grandfathered if you owned it before the ban? What happens if you still have it afterwards?

I hope this is challenged in court.

Guns have to be registered, but before they register your current ARs they need to INSPECT them. thats the word from my County. That means if there's something they don't like, they will confiscate your firearm, they wont go on the honor principle that you will "fix" the gun to make it compliant... how do you like that?

What a stupid list. It looks like M1a's, mini-14's, daewoo dr200 and a lot of other guns aren't on the list. They must be safe because they don't have the deadly pistol grip.

So you can own AR's made by companies not on the list still? That doesn't make much sense (not that any of this does).

How is the NY ban being worded/classified? I thought it was just based on a weapon's features, such as the prevailing weapon of choice for murders - bayonet lugs?

Thats not true, they cant confiscate your property without compensation or giving you time to fix it. Seeing what county you live in I would speak to a lawyer before taking it in. You have some seriously angry anti's in your county for representatives.

You dont even need to register in your own county I dont think,,,,,,,,its the state troopers who do the inspection not the local Barney.

So what if i already have a lower and i need to get an upper can these guys still sell to me? I am grandfathered so i am legal so far.

Uppers arent guns. The only part that is a gun is the Lower receiver. Anything else besides a magazine, lower, ammunition you should be able to purchase from anywhere.

Its not just those on the list, not even sure why they made that because its based on semi-autos and features

I don't fully understand the law? Does a detachable mag make it illegal by its self?

If it doesn't how would a mini be illegal.

I was watching a show on some news channel, anyways a caller called in and was telling the host how the ar15 was too powerful for deer hunting. He said he blew the front half off the deer. It would have been funny, but the host agreed with him and the tirade of other callers falling in line. I also notice they are trying to make AR's sound scarier by now calling them "Weapons of War" what a freaking joke.

Considering that many on that list don't make whole guns nor have they ever like Black Hole etc. They are stretching. Parts is parts. Hard to tell an OLY barrel from a Wilson barrel if it isn't stamped by the maker and many are not.

I suspect there will be a judge somewhere that will put a hold on this rubbish.
