Duck Dynasty and Mossberg

I'll admit I'm not the biggest DD fan, but I am a fan of their message.....faith and family come first. I am firmly behind Phil Robertson and his stand against homosexuality, because I believe in the Bible. I read where the DD gang has made a deal with Mossberg to have their own line of guns. What I'm wondering is if this means they will no longer use and endorse Benelli shotguns. I cannot see any gun Mossberg makes as being better than a Benelli. Just curious as to what some of you guys think about this.
 
You can dress a pig up, even put lipstick on it.. But no matter how you look at it, it's still a pig.. But guarantee you could still pay someone enough to kiss it.

I understand the new Mossberg line is a lot better made than what I remember from the 70's & 80's
but I haven't handled a new one. It seems a lot of folks on here use them, maybe we can get some first hand info.
 
Seen on the Mossberg website the new guns. They are the same 500's and 930's and 935's and so on as the current ones but will cost you more because it say Duck Commander on. I was excited too see what Mossberg was going to come out with but was disappointed when it's the same line up with different camo and a bandana, I have nothing against Mossberg but thought they could do better than that. Love my Duck Commander calls and what they stand for and how they hunt, but won't be buying a a gun with their logo on.
 
The Mossberg-DD deal is months old news in the world of waterfowling.
Does anyone else find it surprising that it hits the main stream populus news now right after the fallout of Phils' statements ? To me it looks like another media-stir-the-pot-get-the-antis-fired-up doing !

And what makes a Mossberg inferior to a Benelli ? I for one am all for any American company that can take back market share, no matter the product or the marketing ploy.
 
We watch the show and honestly considering the alternative programming available on the TV its ok. I have grown tired of the huge piles of DD crap being hawked at every outdoor store I walk into. Enough already............its not makin me happy happy happy.
 
Would I buy a Mossberg? Yes.

Would I buy a Mossberg with DD logos/affiliation for extra cost? No. But I suppose there are lots of folks that would and Mossberg knows this.

FWIW My 835 is built like a tank and throws great patterns.Cant ask for more than that.My guess is Mberg made them a better offer.Regardless they're not the first paid endorsers to switch brands be it gun's,ammo or whatever.I support the Robertson's position on their beliefs and disregard to PC behavior.
 
Guys, it is about money, and thank the Lord that this is still somewhat a capitalist country! Never really watched the show, beings I don't have TV plugged in for the last 10 years, but having seen a few episodes over the holidays at family's places, I can see the appeal to some TV watchers. Esp. those of us NOT city-boy inclined - maybe even some of them. I gotta say, I gotta give it to a guy that speaks his mind, holds his faith where Phil and his family seem to, walked off the field at LA Tech to go hunting and gave up that $$, and has done what he's done in life, all the while passing thru the public scrutiny he has lately with NO ONE coming up with any major dirt on the guy. You just KNOW the libs are trying to find anything on Phil they can throw out there. He does seem to be the real deal - I could only wish my life was as clean over the years.

And to me, that has mostly nothing to do with the Mossberg affiliation. Mossberg's paying the most this year the way it looks - that's business, period. And thank the Lord we can still do business! If Benelli ain't paying, bye, bye. And I'm a Benelli fan! Some years ago it was Browning - anybody say anything like this when they went to MORE expensive shotguns - ie, Benelli, which tend to be beyond the reach of the common man and are imported?? Yes, it's business, and thank God it still is.

I've had Mossberg shotguns, and I have a Benelli SBE2, and there's no comparison as far as I'm concerned. Now, having said that, I don't care what kind of brand a person spends their money on. It's their money and not mine. I just think the Benelli shotguns are about the best ones on the market.
 
I will say I picked up a MVP Predator in 5.56 and it is a tack driver right out of the box. Our local gun store had a good price on it and I liked the feel of it so I figured I'd give it a try. Shot a quarter sized group with cheap ball ammo @ 100yrds out to 200 shot the same group with premium ammo.
 
I have a Bennelli SBE turkey shotgun with the camo & is left hand. Also a mossberg 500 tactical w/folding stock. I like them both altho the Bennelli was way more expensive.
My Rem 870 Wingmaster is my favorite with extra barrels.
If the money is there, they can endorse whatever they want.

They have done what everyone else on this site would do. Follow the money. I bet they still kill a pile of ducks without their $1500 shotguns.

I bet they have their pictures made with their Mossbergs, and I bet they will kill their ducks with their Benellis.....lol.
 
i know nothing about high end shotguns but i have had three 500s forabout 20 yrs and NEVER had any problems of anykind with any of them. i have bought some barrels from mossberg and they have been hit or miss. imo comparing bennelis to mossberg is alot like comparing ford to ferrari. i would expect that there would be no comparison as stated.i also havnt read into the whole phil thing but what ive HEARD he said is homosexuallity isnt his thing if thats true how is that taking a stand against homosexuals its not my thing either but i dont consider myself to be taking a stand....phils not a homophobe you are
 
I don't know what it's like everywhere else, but if you go into gun shops or pawn shops and look at their used shotguns there is an overwhelming amount of Bennelli's.

We can say that Mossberg is throwing money at an endorsement, because they are. But how many people bought a Bennelli because of its name? Same deal. Regardless of how well a shotgun is built if you buy a gun because of the name of it or who they endorse, your buying it for the wrong reasons. There has got to be a reason why so many be bennelis are returned.

Me, I'll keep my 870. It's endorsed by the birds I've killed over the years and without a misdeed or misfire.

By the way I love DD. I encourage Phil's endorsement. It's such a politically correct society that our kids are encouraged to think that they have to promote homosexuality. I can live people, but you can't make me agree with their decisions.
 
I would agree it's about the money. I wouldn't say the DD crew follows the money. Rather leading it. All kinds of companys will compete to get there logo or signature on their products. If Mossberg gave them a better deal, who wouldn't take it?

I've shot a $1,000 Benelli next to my old Winchester pump action, and I liked them both. Very little weight difference and balance was also very close. I still hit more clays with my Winchester than my buddy did with his Benelli. It's not about the gun. Either will do the job, and if you get paid more to use one over the other, why not?

It's simple business.
 
I honestly can say I don't own and won't buy any mossberg products anytime soon and I can't stand "dumb dynasty".... I think people that don't enjoy the outdoors and hunt and shoot that catch that show on the tube, every time they see someone wearing camo and driving a truck they will automatically view you as one of those idiots like on tv... Just my two cents.... I'm not at all hatin on anybody that actually enjoys watching the show, to each his own..
