Duck Dynasty and Mossberg

We can say that Mossberg is throwing money at an endorsement, because they are. But how many people bought a Bennelli because of its name? Same deal. Regardless of how well a shotgun is built if you buy a gun because of the name of it or who they endorse, your buying it for the wrong reasons. There has got to be a reason why so many be bennelis are returned.

Me, I'll keep my 870. It's endorsed by the birds I've killed over the years and without a misdeed or misfire.

By the way I love DD. I encourage Phil's endorsement. It's such a politically correct society that our kids are encouraged to think that they have to promote homosexuality. I can live people, but you can't make me agree with their decisions.

Me too. If it aint broke..... and even if it was I would not shell out $1000 plus for a benelli.

I have two Novas that the pair cost me $600. Shot a ton of birds, bunnies and a few coyotes with. Never had a problem. Not all Benellis are expensive shotguns.

As a man starts out in life he has a Toyota SR5 pick-up that does all he needs and then some, best truck he has ever owned.

As life goes on and he does better financially he upgrades to a F-150. That truck serves him well and he is happy. Best truck he has ever owned.

As life continues he later finds himself in a F-250 King Ranch. Life is good. Best truck he has ever owned and the nicest. Try to convince this guy [NOW] that the Toyota SR5 is the best thing going. Not happening.

That's how I see the Mossberg/Benelli debate.

P.S Good for DD. Rock on!!!

P.SS But if Toyota offers to give him one, and pay him for taking it, he would be a fool not to.

i myself would rock a mossberg for the right price... without that check i might use one to hold the hood open on my truck,.... DD = sellouts....

And for the record, I'm not a big fan of DD or their message.

I've watched a total of maybe 2 full episodes. I just can't get it past the gag reflex. The only message I've been able to catch from the show is the buy our merchandise message because their chits hangin in every store that thinks it will sell. They've gone from selling calls to selling anything they can put their name on and get a royalty fee off of.

I see a lot of input from guys about Mossberg.

Are there better shotguns out there? Definitely. More expensive too. Not everyone can afford an expensive shotgun, some don't want one.

One thing I have seen is that the Duck Commander brand is on 15 different models of firearms. Not just shotguns, but rifles and a pistol as well. Pretty good looking camo on them too.

Upon further looking around, it seems that people don't know that the Duck Dynasty trademark and Duck Commander trademark are totally different, and owned by two separate parties. A&E owns Duck Dynasty, while the Robertsons own Duck Commander.

The Mossberg deal bears the Duck Commander brand name, which means that usually the endorser gets an amount of the money from sale of such items.

More power to them! It won't last forever, so why not get a nice check for each gun sold?

Never met a shotgun I didn't love (well the Weatherby Orion was a block thing). Bust as many birds with a Baikal 20 OE and a SxS as I could with my Franchi Velocci 20ga or the Win 101 12ga. Sure Franchi swung nice and was gorgeous but didn't kill more clays. I've got a mossy 500 in the lineup, never let me down.

Phil and DD wasn't always clean in the past, pretty colorful past of drugs and suicidal. They seem OK to me, and real. Buy DD mossy because it's DD? Probably not. But would buy another Mossy, or Nova but I'm over with the shotguns cost 2-3 times as much. They aren't THAT much better.

Oh yea, drive a F350 4x4 Best truck I ever owned

I might have missed it but in the episodes of DD I've seen they never endorsed any gun/product by name of any type including their own stuff.Obviously viewers will take it for granted they use DC calls but still. There's probably a clause in their contract with A&E about that?

How dare they chase the freakin' money!!! I swear, some time I think people believe this is a free market society. I mean c'mon, profit is a nasty word. Tax the rich!!! Down with the 1%'ers. OCCUPY THE DUCK BLIND!!!

Capitalist pigs owe us!!!

...ooops, uh, nevermind.

I don't think the show is stupid. It's high time there was at least one show that's pro gun/hunting.All this controversy regarding what Phil said is pure leftist propaganda AKA-crapola.The Robertson's represent everything the left despises.Self reliance, religious conviction, family values, hunting and firearms, you name it.

The show is stupid. Never have liked it.

I know it doesn't hold a candle to the intellect of meeting the Kardashians, or Honey Boo-boo,

but some of the Duck dynasty went to college and actually started a business and became active productive members of society, paying taxes and all, then became famous. One (uncle Cy)is even a US military veteran.

Not a TV watcher either but while may family was here for Thanksgiving we watched a little of DD. It was a little corny but Ok I guess as I really dislike reality Tv shows anyway. I don't even understand why people watch reality Tv shows but obviously I am in the minority. I like their message even if I don't care for the show.Thy are way better than representatives than uncle Ted. I agree with most of what Ted Nugent says but cannot like a person who drops F-bombs and has to be beeped out while speaking to Fourth grade school kids.
While I know Benelli makes a very good product the ONE I owned broke twice and they gave me the runaround so long and then tried to charge me for repair so I will never buy another Benelli.

I watch the DD shows if they are on, they are light entertainment and can not see why anyone would dislike the show particularly.
And Mosberg It was a simple business deal these things happen in business.
Are Mosbergs that bad of a gun? I tell ys! I had a 500 i had it years never gave one problem, i shot it well too, the short acuchokes were not fantastic but worked.

As everyone has said its a business deal. The Robertsons "probably" would not argue that a Mossberg is "better" than a benelli, they would probably speak as a politician and not commit to a specific product. They are actually just saying(for compensation) that Mossberg is an acceptable product for the price range in their eyes. Mossberg is paying for the rights to use said endorsement(s) in order to increase sales (business). As far as what shotgun they use during filming is probably based on a contract(s) agreement(s). The Robertsons realize that their endorsement has value and they will charge, for its use, accordingly. They are also savvy enough not to burn a possible endorsement bridge with any manufacture. Phil is seen in some episodes using what looks like an "old" hump back Browning auto-5. I would assume he truly likes it as Browning probably would not pay for him to be seen with an old model gun. The Robertsons "may" really prefer Remingtons but if Remington does not pay they will not "publicly" endorse them are be filmed using them. On the early episodes the GMC trucks they drove had the emblems blacked out. On the most recent episodes the GMC emblem is clearly visible. One can bet that GMC had to pay to get that emblem blackout removed. If you value the Robertsons honest opinion on shotguns find out what they shot before they were famous or what they shoot when they are alone with no cameras.

Lesson: product purchases should be based on what you can learn from "unbiased" sources.

I recently bought a Mberg MMR, mounted a 4x32 scope, bored sighted it. Dropped 3 white tails w/ 3 cartridges. Really pleased w/ it. Wife & I love the Duck bunch, but I wouldn't pay extra for an endorsement.
