Duck Dynasty and Mossberg

A&E put Duck Dynasty on TV thinking they would be laughed
at. Instead it was A&E that was laughed at when they tried
this PC crap on the Robertsons. Imagine...people with
principles, being admired to the point that A&E had to
retreat quickly from their mock moral outrage action of
"suspending" Phil. When it happened, I thought, "A&E is about
to get a lesson in what flyover people think". They saw
their $80M cash cow leaving the barn, and beat a hasty
retreat from their mock moral outrage position, back to
a good old capitalist position. Someone got schooled, and
it wasn't the Robertsons.

Obviously, the move to endorse Mossberg was a financial move, not a move toward finding a better shotgun. There is no comparison between anything Mossberg makes and a Benelli product. They are made differently, for different price points.

One point about the Browning A-5. Browning released a new version of the A5 about 2 years ago. While it looks like the original humpback that many of us know and love, the mechanicals are completely redesigned, so this is really a new shotgun, not a re-release of the old A5.

wow.. Imagine a hunter/tv/video personality switching brands of product..

Roger Raglin, Randy Ulmer, Tom Knapp, and that other guy? Oh yeah, Les Johnson... It amounts to making a living. I bet that not a one of you wouldn't do the same if the money was right..

The gay community champions the first amendment until someone has a different opinion as their's. DD is a scripted, light entertainment television show with a message of family, morals, religion, and the simple life of hunting. I love it. It's refreshing.

But on the other hand, nobody forces or makes anyone pay that higher price. They pay because they want to. That is what makes our country great, simply buying something because we want it or like it. Good old free enterprise..

anybody remember the duck commander shows that used to be on the outdoor or sportsman channels that featured the Robertson's and was sponsored by benelli.... wonder if they ever shot benellis before that?

Boy, I know if I had people knocking on my door trying to hand me a bunch of money I would just say "No, thank you".

Somebody might think I was sell a out.

If anyone who posted to this thread says they wouldn't shoot a Mossberg or anything else if I paid you a million dollars, I am going to say you are full of it or not a bright as your momma thinks you are.

I almost posted this the other week but deleted it, figured I might as well FWIW. I suspect that the majority of the people who buy into celebrity endorsements aren't buying top of the line products, and the people that do buy top of the line products don't want someone's name and picture on them.

I shoot a Mossberg 835, and find it humorous as it is one of the least expensive guns I own, yet has probably been shot 10x as much as any other. At one point I sold a truck and had a bunch of cash burning a hole in my pocket, I decided it was time to buy a better quality shotgun. The Benelli's I held felt like a bony anorexic girl that doesn't ever eat, the Beretta's felt like a chubby girl that was hard to get a good hold of, and the Browning Cynergy felt sharp and mean up against my face, so I'm still shooting the old Mossberg.

Granted, I probably would have gotten used to any of the other guns eventually, and I can't knock Benelli as many of my friends shoot them, and have held them underwater to melt the ice off them in sub-zero conditions, but my Mossberg has never let me down.

I typically enjoy very refined things, I shoot Weatherby rifles and drive European cars and motorcycles, but if you define a good shotgun as going "bang" when you pull the trigger and loading another shell after that, my Mossberg has done exactly that. 6,000+ rounds and it has never had any issue whatsoever, I never even clean the thing.

I freely admit that there are better guns when it comes to craftsmanship, and I've been embarrassed to show up at certain quail hunts with it, but I think that they are similar to Savage rifles in that they do exactly what they are supposed to at a great price.
