E bike

Anyone out there have some feedback on the use of a mtn bike or e bike for getting around coyote hunting?

I don't personally but our local gov't trapper uses an e-bike. He hauls it everywhere with him. He says a lot of times, he'll park his wagon and hop on the bike to ride up a canyon making sets along the way. He doesn't pack any critters out, they just lie where they fall, but he says he loves using the bike as it's quiet and can get him to and from a lot of stands that are further from the road that a person might not get to if he were walking.

I’m hunting some state ground that has roads thru it and thought it would kinda handy to have. On quiet days there’s no doubt they have to hear me park and unload. A mtn bike or e-bike either one could be handy.

Funny you ask... I just got a FREE Addmotor M360. Someone donated it and no one at work wanted it. Other than the tires being worn, looks new and has two batteries.

That thing is FAST and goes through sand and dirt pretty good. Only bad thing is it's front wheel drive so I'll probably rig about forty pounds to the front for traction.

Can't wait to paint it, might even strap a large cardboard cow cut out to see if I can slip on on hogs in the open lol. Should be lots of fun going through the cow pastures at night wearing NV.

I’ve been using an e‑bike to slip into spots where a truck would blow everything out, and it’s been way quieter and quicker for me. Rough trails are still rough, but the low buzz of the motor hasn’t spooked anything so far. I also grabbed bicycle insurance after a couple of sketchy hauls in the dark, mostly for theft and damage, and it’s been nice not stressing about the bike while I’m out calling.

I had a folding mountain bike and many folding AWD E scooters before getting a step through AWD 60 volt/60Ah E mountain bike earlier this year when they went on sale.
Folding as they have to fit in my varmint van, AWD because it needs to haul around some weight and step through because I'm not getting any younger and I'm able to get off and on the bike with ease.
Peddle assist or peddle only if you want to get some exercise.
It's heavy but it's been a great addition.

Bass Pro Shops has recently acquired Hobie kayaks and have decided to drop out of their mountain bike line up. All bikes are 50% off!!!
I purchased this $600 Fat Tire Mountain Bike for $300. After I got it home, I changed the seat to a wider Gel Seat, installed a higher rise set of Handle Bars, a shorter Stem to get the Handle Bars closer to the sitting position, a set of metal Pedals with shoe/boot traction spikes and a heavy duty Cargo Rack (rated at 220 lbs.).

After getting all the parts installed, I hooked up my Muddy Deer Cart to the Cargo Rack with some paracord and added a Block Target and my fishing tackle bag/box and drove it around. It works as good as I'd hoped. I'm going to try hauling more weight on the next voyage and see how it performs. I want to tie the paracord "hitch" closer to the Cargo Rack, next time, but so far, it has been amazing!

I’ve been hunting from an e-bike this past season. Besides the great exercise, getting in and out of heavily pressured areas has yielded great results.

I’m still trying to decide on something. After 2 back surgeries and shoulder surgery I’m still thinking the e-bike will be a bit much to load and unload several times in a day of calling.

HM 1996's response is what I fabricated but without the ramp. I just attached 2 pcs of 4" pipe on the aft side of the carrier and 2 pcs. of upright 1" angle (at the front tire and seat) with buckle straps to anchor the bike. I put and then strap the front tire in first.
This leaves the carrier 'open/free' for anything you might want to put on it.

I bungee my pack with all the goodies on the rear rack and use a backpack scabbard for the rifle.
When I'm running + gunning I take the call and tripod out of the pack and bungee them on the outside for quick deployment.
Where I go with it a cargo carrier would never work and if I used a front rack like 5194 to transport my firearms, I'd end up bending a barrel or worse, but it does make it convenient for ride by shooting.
I use the AWD option to load and unload it from the van.

I used a mountain bike for quite a while to hunt, two things that I would do differently would be to get a woman's mountain bike (step through) and raise the handlebars like bowhunter57 did.
Am thinking about getting a e-bike due to age, but there are multiple restrictions on them for most of the places that I would want to use it.
