eastern coyote vocals ?

rascals

I live in Pa. and have been hunting coyotes for about a year now. Have a Foxpro FX3, and have read everything i can find on the eastern species on this forum, and anywhere else i can get info. Have not killed one yet but am getting close. The Question that I have, and never really read anything about, is do the dogs in different parts of the country vocalize differently? 3 times I have been busted and the barking sounds that they make do not sound like anything on my Foxpro or the various videotapes i have seen. The closest i can describe it is a cross between Hyenas for the first part and going into what sounds alot like a drawn-out owl hoot! They will do this several times the leave. there is none of the yipping and drawn-out screeching. Is this just a YOUR BUSTED type of call or what?

use howling mostly at night to locate and then remain quiet. or use a siren "if legal in the state". after youve pinpointed them hitem in the morning or early evening or even at high noon.

these eastern coyotes are secretive and they will come into to prey calls as well as western coyotes, but i havent had the most luck with howling.... only to locate. its even hard to get a howl back regardless of what u use. they just dont want to make their presence known, but they are there.

Sounds like you are hearing a coyote threat bark/howl. This usually means they have busted you. I have had them do this at me for over a half hour.

Are you sure they left? How long did you stay? That sure dont sound like a warning bark or a busted youre butt bark. Sounds like you had some young dogs playing with ya. Crap ahoot is there going to be a hunt in okie again??
