Ecaller clipping out Still

I have a small digital recording studio.
My other obsession is playing music.
It has a wave form software that i can plug in a file and
look at the wave form.I can then see where it is clipping and
turn just that portion of the wave/mp3 down.
not sure if this would help you but i could certainly give it a try. pm me.

I was looking at buying a 12v battery for my ecaller. How many amps does it need to be or does it matter. If you read above you can see I was having problems with my caller clipping out and I came to the conclusion that it must be that I need a 12v batery. I know nothing about volts or amps. So does it matter as long as it is 12v?

For what you're tryng to figure out, the battery itself won't be too critical. Just about any healthy 12 V battery with say, 2 amp-hours or more capacity (same thing as 2000 MAH, incidentally) should be enough to prove the battery isn't the cause of a low-voltage clipping condition. to diagnose your problem, you might just want to scrounge a cigarette lighter accessory cord and plug your caller into the nearest car (preserving the correct polarity, of course).

Beyond that, battery choice becomes a question of how much weight you want to lug around, versus how much calling time you get before recharging. I'd look for a welded R/C pack using Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells that will accept a fast charge and be half the weight of lead-acid for the same amperage, perhaps one in the 2500 MAH range would be a good compromise. If you can't find one like this, you probably don't want or need anything larger than a 4A gel cell.

only problem with NiMH is they don't hold a charge for any length of time. In a few weeks sitting they can loose anywhere from 30%-50% of there charge and then drain faster when in that condition. I like the gell cells even though more weight. They hold a charge much longer.

This thread was about solving his clipping problem, so gel cells aren't high on my list because they don't deliver as much peak current as NiMH in high-drain devices. Also not in their favor, they can't be fast charged, do not deep-cycle well (can easily be killed through deep discharge) and are considered haz-mat when they go belly up. But yes, they do hold a charge longer.

Harder to find nowadays, but I like sealed lead-acids better than gel cells; they hold up longer and take more over-charging abuse, typically have less internal resistance and can deliver more peak current for the same size.

It worked!!! I used a cigarette lighter plug for a spotlight and it worked perfectly. Now all I have to do it find a 12 v battery that will fit in my container.

Why not use a stiffening Cap (Capacitor) inline on the + Side that will Store power for Peak demand times on the High notes ? One should do the job very well. ~Ace~

Because simpler is better, that's why not.

With the correct voltage battery for the Nady DKW-1, Drew just solved the clipping problem. Enough already.

I was having a similiar problem the other day and I noticed I had the mute adjustment on the back of my nady 351 turned up to much and it would clip out if I was about 20 feet away but not up close, I turned the mute adjustment down all the way and now everything works fine! Just a thought, it might not have anything to do with it though!
