Editing and installing sounds to FX3

I thought that I read some where that the new Foxpro FX3
played three type of sounds, MP3, Wave, and a FX3 special sound.

I would like to know what lenght of loops can be played using, MP3,Wave and FX3 special sound?

Can I convert my MP3 and wave sounds to the FX3 spiecal sounds and install them on to the Foxpro FX3 player?

Can I edit, cut, or add to the new FX3 special sounds myself any time I want, like I can MP3 or Wave using Goldwave or similar editing software? Thanks Coyotechet

I dont remember how longthe sound loops can be, but they can be quite long. As far as converting to the FX3 format, You probably wont be able to do that as this is a special format that Foxpro created to protect their sounds. FX3 format sounds will only be able to be played on your fx3 caller and no where else. Hopefully Mike will come and set me straight if I am incorrect.

another question.

Can I Mixed the type of sounds that I install on the FX3
sample say 10 in MP3,, 10 in Wave,, 12 in FX3 special for a total of the 32 sounds. Thanks again

Coyotechet,

There are 3 formats that the FX3 will recognize. They are .wav, .mp3, and .fxp. When you install your own sound into the FX3, you can install in either a .wav format, or .mp3 format. The .fxp format is what our sounds will be in. The .fxp is the same as a .wav file, but in our own proprietary file type. If you want, you can put in 10 .mp3 sounds, and 15 .wav sounds. If you input sounds in a .mp3 format, you can have 8.5 minute sound loops for 32 sounds, or longer (depending on the bit rate that you choose). The 8.5 minute sound loops was determined at a 128 .mp3 bit rate. You can put a 20 minute sound loop in one position, a 10 minute sound loop in another, a 15 minute sound loop in another, and so on. For .wav files, you can have 32 sounds, each with a 1.5 minute sound loop. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thanks!

CoyoteChet,
To answer a few of your questions:

- We have all 3 types of files (wav, mp3, fxp) on our FX3. There is no need to convert the files, the unit plays all 3.

- Sounds that come installed on the FX3 are 3 minute loops. However, the loop length is basically unlimited. I put on a 15 min looped recording during testing. The usb interface is a dream to work with. The unit has a large memory which allows for approx 2.7 hours of recording depending on file size (I was told you can place NINE 30 min sound loops on the unit).

Woops - looks like FOXPRO answered at the same time..

Thanks to you all.
I got the anwsers I was looking for and they are what I was hoping for. Looks like I will be able to play all of my Favorite edited sounds again thanks to Foxpro FX3.

Thanks again What a great service P.M. is. Coyotechet

Another thing that is real cool, is that you can move the sounds around to the position you like. For instance you can move them in order of favorite or most used sounds. Down loading your own sound has also became alot simpler. You simply plug the call to your computer, open it up, copy and paste the sound where you want it. You put it where you need it by the number you type on the sound. If you want it in the #3 spot you simply name it 003 folowed by the name of the sound. I downloaded a sound off an old CD that was 17 minutes long. Played the entire sound loop flawlessly and clearer than I've ever heard it. The potential is limitless. Another cool feature is that I have almost forty sounds stored in the unit and still have space left. To store the sound in the unit you simply rename it to a number that the unit won't recognize and it will not play it, but just store it.

Byron,
Great information! I was wondering about storing more than 32 sounds on the FX3. Hopefully I receive my FX3 in the next week. I'm going to try it for Black Bear and season opened this week.

Any thoughts on sounds that might work for Bear???????

BTW, Volume 3 is GREAT!!! Real nice to see footage in thick cover, kinda like what we have up here in Maine.....

Mountain Caller,

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

FOXPRO has some bear cub sounds I believe and the fawn bawl and distress sounds should be good as well.

Byron,
Thanks for the help, I'm having those sounds installed on the FX3, and I have some other bear sounds on my PC that I plan to use. Thanks for your help.....

Do you have an idea when Coming to the Call volume 4 will be released??

Pat,

No, FX3 owners will not be able to download sounds for free. There will be a fee of $20.00 for 16 sounds. We have a lot of money invested in our sounds, and are not willing to just "give" them away. It is easy to give your sounds away if you do not have a lot of money or time invested in them, or if the sounds are not any good. Our sound library is very important to us. I think $20.00 for 16 sounds is a pretty good deal, and remember, once you download our sounds one time onto your computer, you will always have access to them to swap in and out of your FX3. Thanks, Pat! Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Very reasonable price. Especially when you compare it to the cost of tapes or CD that only give you a few calls at a similar price point.

I'll probably get to putting one of these FX3s on order before year's end.
