Educate me on 22k hornet

I have a K in a martini cadet action. As I reload for it I have only 1 complaint about the cartridge, and it is not the performance, etc. It's the thin neck slightest bump before seating a bullet or sizing and the case is ruined. That is just the Hornet across the board doesn't matter if it's a K or not. Which outside of that I like the cartridge. Sips powder, the terminal effect are great. A really good cartridge as a whole.
Which I'm in the process of re-calibering the martini only because of the neck thickness or rather thinness hatred on my part. It only affect me and my desires goal, many have no issue. If I didn't view it as a negative I would keep it as is. Is there methods to work around this yes. Does it mean your mileage will vary oh most certainly.

What really helped my loads with the K version in accuracy was using a pistol primer versus a rifle primer.
It is a fun cartridge, and amazing what it does in such a small package.
But to convert to the K version and not reload is just spending / wasting money. As it will just be a regular hornet
Hurt resell value? that is in the eye of the buyer and seller, just like any gun in any caliber. Some prefer the K.
But yes the regular hornet cartridge can be fired in a K chamber, and once done it is a K hornet as it will fireform. A quick check of the neck area is needed though, observing for splits. Usually and it will vary expect to lose about10 out of a 100 to split necks (understand that is not fire forming loads but factory, fireforming loads are usually dialed back to reduce that number).

Yes, chamfering the neck does help, and have heard of some using a slight belling of the mouth of the neck as well.

I won a .22K Hornet made by Fred Smith owner of BullBerry.
He made the barrel for a TCA target match - won -then donated the barrel for the $5.00 raffle which I won. I was greatly disappointed! I knew nothing of K Hornets and wasn't interested until I bought dies and shot it Dead Nut!!
A pound of powder lasts years with a single shot carbine. One of my favorite. Get some 35 or 40 grain bullets and have a ball.
Soup
I had Bull Barrel make me a .22 hornet barrel. It shot 5 shot group you could cover with a dime.

I shot a Savage 219 for quite awhile. It seldom needed FL sizing so I used a 218 Bee FL sizing die for a neck sizer, a 30-06 round to bell the mouth and a lee factory crimp die to smoothe the bell out and a Hornady seater with the sliding sleeve, it kept those stubby bullets lined up nicely. The best accuracy was with Winchester 46gr HPs

I’ve owned both the Hornet and the K version and prefer the K. Both are good little varmint rounds but the K has a little bit more punch. However the advantage I’ve seen I’d brass life. Hornet brass is very thin and the standard Hornet case design stretches. The K has given me a little more brass life. Most Ks I’ve had were head spaced on the rim, but I believe it can be head spaced on the shoulder. In either case you should be able to fire form common Hornet cases to the K.
I don’t own either anymore. I wish I’d hung on to one of them, slick little round.

I have several 22 hornet rifles and one 22K Hornet (Kimber 82 ). I’m a bit of a small caliber/cartridge nut. Yes the K is a bit faster and has in theroy better case life. But there’s really not much difference.
