Electronic caller

I just purchased a Foxpro Prowler electronic game call. I have never used an electronic game caller before. I am coyote hunting in Southeast Nebraska (timber and crop areas). Could you all give me some ideas on which calls I should be using? Definitely a rabbit distress call. There are lots of coyote calls on this caller. Should I be using any of them? Thanks and Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with jmeddy, you can take your call and listen to the vocals on it then listen to coyotes howling compare the sounds that will give you a good idea of there language, takes patients but you will get to know what there saying over time, sometime you can mimic one and that may piss it off and charge in, this has worked for me at times.

In 100% agreement with above responses. Take a listen to the Foxpro Podcasts where Jon Collins and Torry Cook discuss coyote behavior at different times of the year, and what coyotes are doing at those times.

They break down coyote vocalizations in depth and how to use them. I don’t always follow them to a tee, but it’s a great introduction if you don’t know at all. Time afield and attention to your successes and screw ups will teach you the most.

A lot of variables in this sport. Pay attention, don’t get discouraged, and have fun. Every stand is a lesson! Good luck.
