Looking forward to applying. These guys are being reestablished exactly in my favorite hunting grounds. We saw rubs last year while scouting deer sign.

Ha! Right behind all the politicians and "connected" that have an in with Mo Conservation Dept... Don't get me wrong I tuly hope it is an open and fair system but I have my doubts....

Looks good. The WI herd is going nowhere, smack dab in the middle of wolf & bear habitat. The MI herd does O.K. without the wolves in the area.

We have had one cow elk killed by a mountain lion. Our lion population is very very small so I don't think lions will be much of a predation factor. However, there is a decent population of black bear in that area and I know they prey on elk calves so that might be an interesting problem for the MDC. There are also wild hogs along the river corridor through the elk reintroduction area. I don't know if hogs will be a problem for elk calves. Hogs will catch and eat fawn deer if they get a chance. There are plenty of coyotes and bobcats around also. I figure the MDC has a big enough investment they are going to see the elk be successful regardless of what it is going to take to make that happen.

BTW, some of your wolves have made it all the way down here too. There have been two or three verified wolves killed in Missouri in the last few years. DNA results link them to the upper mid-west packs. I think one of them was actually micro chipped and traced back directly to Wisconsin. Could ya'll please keep your pets in your own yard?
