on tuesday I will be buying a encore pistol with a 15" barrel it also comes with a rifle stock and a weaver 2x10x50 I will be buying a rifle barrel soon I am thinking a custom.223 about 20" what yall say?

my stock 24 inch 223 barrel shoots great. So good in fact I'm not even considering going the custom route when I get a 308 barrel for deer huntin.

t/c223encore.

I know the custom makers turn out some fine equipment, but you might try a factory barrel first. You can probably pick up a factory .223 for less than $200 bucks (used). If you like it, chop off 4" and use it. If you don't like it, you can usually get your money back out of it.

What cartridge is your 15" barrel in?

the 15" is a 223 I will probably sell it to finance the longer barrel where is a good place too look for used barrels? oh and men in black is on in the other room as I write this JB

There are a number of places to look for used barrels. Classified ads section of hunting forums are good (here on PM, over at Accurate Reloading, Graybeards), the gun auction sites (auction arms, gunbroker), plus eBay. There are several dealers that carry them also. I understand that the best is Ed's Contenders. I don't know his website off-hand, but an internet search should bring it up.

brought it home tonite its a dream to shoulder but its a little heavier than I hoped for hope I dont regret not buying a G2. I am excited to think about vuying a 7mm barrel and hunting big game and coyotes with the same rifle

I just purchased an Encore in November and have been very impressed. Mine is chambered in 25-06 and after doing a little work with some handloads that thing does a very nice job with a 75gr VMax on top of 56gr of H4350. As long as I do my part the factory barrel shoots under 1" my best three shot groups have been just under 3/8". Bring on the coyotes!
