Eotech Scope Yardage

The Eotech can be a very versatile setup. I have mine mounted forward on my upper so it can be used in multiple roles.

I managed to find one of the 4x magnifiers they made several years back and it's a great setup with the rectangular FOV that matches the Eotech window.

News: I went to the rifle range again when it was calmer. I bought a Lead Sled DFT and took it with me to shoot with. It made a huge difference in my accuracy and precision. My last three shots at the 200 yard range were all inside the Orange Bulls eye target and I was able to cover all three holes with a quarter. I had to make some adjustments after mounting the EOTECH to my AR15.

I shot three different types of factory ammo this day. First was the Hornady V-Max 55 grain with the red plastic tip. Next was a Hornady 68 gr HPBT bullet. Then finally I used the Federal American Eagle 55 gr FMJ bullets. The latter is the less expensive of the three but it shot the best group at the end of the day. Maybe it was because the wind died down or something.

Most all my shots were grouped together but the first few rounds were off the bulls eye. All shots were taken at 200 yard range. BTW.

After dialing in the windage and the elevation I was dead on the target.

I was using my new Pro Clear Multifocal Toric contacts and had them in for about 3 hours this day. At times I was seeing double vision out of my right eye but I found that if I waited a few seconds after blinking that the right contact would orientate properly in my eye and the double vision went away. This helps my shooting a lot. My left eye is shot. After going back to the eye Dr he told me to go back to my Air Optic Contact for my left eye. I need to get my cataract fixed in my left eye in order to see with it. Even with my eye glasses my vision is toast in the left eye these days.

My goal for the day was too see how well the AR15 Ambush Firearms 5.56 and the EOTech HHS1 system could shoot at 200 yards. My conclusion is that the rifle and sight system is capable of very good accuracy and precision. It's all depends on the shooter. I was very surprised how much difference it made using the Lead Sled. The red dot in the EXPS3-4 was much steadier and so much easier to hold on the bulls eye until the Geiselle two stage trigger broke.

This give me hope for this sight system. If I can lug the Caldwell Magnum DeadShot FieldPod out into the field to shoot with I should be able to shoot coyotes out to 200 yards with this system.

If you are young and have good eye sight all you need is a good steady shooting platform or steady hands and this system will work for you. IMHO.

Gman, or anyone else who knows, is that EOTech XPS3 on a riser or is that how it comes out of the box? Looking to get that same USGI mount for my PVS-14 (with a military 3x magnifier) behind a XPS3 and was wondering about the height from the rail of both the EOTech and the PVS-14 on the mount. Your picture looks like it is just about right. Thanks!

The Eotech EXPS3 model with the NV mode has a 7 mm riser mount. As you can see in the photos in the post it lines up with no problem.

When you get it set up remember to turn the Eotech on and switch to NV mode when you are ready to mount your PVS14 and just leave it on for the duration of your hunt. That way you can be sure you will not turn it on in DAY mode in front of your PVS14.

Sweet Gman! Will order the mount tomorrow. Looks like the only one set back enough to use a 3x Mil magnifier while keeping everything off the handguard. Wouldn't be a big deal on my LMT monolithic but don't want to be limited to which gun I use.

Works ok with standard setup, but I think I will try it with the LaRue EOTECH mount. That will rise the EOTech a little centering it in the FOV of the PVS-14 and will retain zero when switching to another optic. I can see a little too much of the top bar of the sight as it sits here in the picture.
