Estimating the weight of coyotes

Hmmm. 111 lbs if it was soaking wet and full of food. Down to 105 if it was dry and hungry.

Now you all know why I said my dog weighed in at 45 libbies!

After looking at this pic of the one I shot 3 weeks ago, I will say my last guess of 28 to 30 may be close but might be on the heavy side.

I am 6'2 and 200 pounds, and this was a pretty big coyote, by the way I know exactly what it weighed.

33 lb. I carry a scale and am still surprised when I actually weigh the critters. How tall are you? My biggest was 30 lb here in South/Central California.

Woo

Dang, now you guys have me all discombobulated over this weight of the coyotes issue! Here I am all fat, dumb, and happy thinking my dog weighed in at a Tyson'ish 45lb number until Hyprwrks got me thinking that my number was too high. Now this thread has me thinking even more. I guess it is time to buy myself a scale and figure out what these dogs really weigh!

Going back into my scale-less hole now...

4949Shooter,
As a brother cop, that was not fair. You didn't say it was killed in Texas at the first post. I thought you killed it around NJ since that is where you are from. I don't know that Texas has any 43 lbs. coyotes, but I'll stick to what I said in the first guess. Well when ya gonna tell us...inquiring minds wanna know /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Hehe. This was fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I realized a might have thrown you guys for an unintentional loop, Brother. I had forgotten that you would have been looking at my state and had no idea I shot that dog in Texas. That's why I owned up, though on the belated side.

drhart was closest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif He said 36 and a half pounds. The coyote weighed in at 36 pounds even on the FedEx scale.
We had it weighed before we shipped it home to NJ for mounting.

Nobody guessed exactly so no one gets the prize.....lunch at McDonalds. Yeah, I'm a cheap date. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Furhunter, I am going to guess 26 pounds on yours. This is minus the five pounds of meat shot out of it's right ham. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif

Thats an exit wound from a 22 hornet, a complete pass thru on a quartering shot there wasnt much missing if any, just really bloody, thats where 90% of the leaking took place. 34 1/2 pounds.

I didn't know we could do plus or minus. I'll say 36 pounds 8 ounces plus or minus 15 pounds and I bet I'm right. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

How can you say nobody got it right on? Not only did this guy nail the weight, he nailed my funny bone I am still chuckling over this answer you should have givin him a prise maybe phoned him up and let him hear the sound you called it in with or somthing.

Did that 36 lb FEDEX weight include the box and packaging for shipping? Got to deduct a couple then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For comparison...
