Ever blow up a rifle........

I thought thread locker was required on mauser actions, what keeps the barrel from loosening up when fired? No nut or lug? If a short chambered barrel was installed and hand reamed to correct headspace, thread locker would need to be used?? Wondering out loud because you said barrel came off easy.

We had to use a vice and action wrench. But it wasn't stuck that hard.

No, thread locker as we know the product today wasn't around or in use in pre WWI /II and later Mausers ....

what keeps the barrel from loosening up when fired?
The barrels Shoulder (via compression to the action) being a RH twist it actually prevents a loosening after the barrel is torqued (65 to 75 Ft Lbs), Then finish reamed for the chamber headspace, usually the last few thousands after torqueing the barrel in.
Factory Rem's use a lug, but they, as done by the factory unless altered don't lock to the action. again the shoulder press against the lug pressing against the action. No need for loc-tite.
(now some old smith did use a copper thread sealant to snug up the class fit between the barrel and action, but it wasn't to lock the threads usually. Mostly to correct the barrel tendons threads being slightly undersized / sloppy in fit.)
Carbon usually finds it way into the threads and over the years will fill in between the two threads. I recall on one M1 Garand barrel that I pulled in 2004, installed in 1942 used a 8' cheater pipe /action wrench and took every thing I had and when gave way sounded like the action shattered. It was a bugger.

We had few pop over the years mostly sub 223
Some due TO FOD
Most due to stupidity
223 in 204 in an ar 15 commonly happens
Fast powders small hole 🕳
False sholder cats
Over loading my last 7 mag was 7gr over max never started over on loadata that kind of shit.
Dubble load on muzzloader
Bore sight left in
Mistory powder by grandpaw

Almost ever time the action. Save the people from the own stupid way

Dubble load muzzloade worst I have ever seen guy next BH 205 and ded blow hammer

Several years ago my Buddy did a AR-15 in 9mm, after seeing and shooting mine. But he went with the 16" barrel version. He experienced a "Out Of Battery" condition, no real damage to speak of terrified him to a degree, actually more intrigued as to why. (happened when he got trigger happy)

As I've done several 9mm, 45acps in the AR-15 platform, I told him to bring it over. I / actually we tore it down, looking at everything I surmise it was actually a "bolt bounce" condition after weighing the bolt and buffer. Looked at the Buffer sure enough, was a standard buffer. I dug around a bit in the spare parts cabinet found the other spare "heavy" 9mm Buffer. We cleaned it up, I installed the 9mm buffer which was a good bit heavier. We took it out ran flawless, he was still trying to figure out why the heavier buffer made a difference. I literally had to reinstall the two different buffers and get him to listen to the sound of the bolt closing with the light buffer and then the heavy. For that ever so subtle extra contact to battery with the light buffer. I explained "Most" likely he pulled the trigger when the bolt was bouncing back causing the "OOB" condition when he was rapid firing.

So...

Did you ever find out what may have happened?
Not really. The only "WAG" is the case separated right at the extractor groove. I've had a separated case before but it didn't blow up my rifle. The base of the case, (what was left of it), was bound up in the bolt lugs. The extractor, (what was left of it) was wedged between the lugs and the inner wall of the action. That's what had it locked up so tight. Took me about an hour to free it. Once I got it out I could pull the bolt. Floor plate and follower spring was trashed too. But the barrel looks fine and so does the trigger.I did see a Remington 799 at the gunshow and had thoughts of buying it and starting over but it was 7.62x39 so the bolt wouldn't work and he wanted $900 for it. Big pass on that one.

I got to looking at the parts I have left and the barrel is fine. The bolt will still move freely in the action so I'm guessing the action is probably OK. The bolt is trash other than maybe saving the firing pin and some internal parts. I haven't taken it apart to check yet. The follower is OK but the spring is garbage. So, a new bolt and stock would maybe get it up and running but finding a complete bolt is not to promising. I hate to just throw it away but not sure if I want to spend money trying to repair it either.

Maybe??? Numrich??

not at this time looks like.... IDK best course of action.

Well as bad as I hate to say it, it's on its way to the dump. I decided I would rather use the money towards a newer rifle (later) than try to chase down parts for the Daly. I kept the barrel and the trigger and the scope base. Everything else is in the dump.
