I guess the first thing I would do is look at the rules for the F class you want to shoot. Then pick a gun that will allow you to do both.
If you do go 308 I would look at the SAVAGE FP with the HS or Mcmilian stock over the Choate. The Choate stocked guns I've handled seem very heavy.
When looking at the Remington's the 700p has a nicer finish 1/12 tw and a HS stock. The 5r is SS 1/11.25 tw and a HS stock. The SPS-V has a rough finish, 1/12tw and comes in a cheap plastic stock. Any of these guns will probable be more than enough accurate. Good Luck
