Facemask for calling.....yes or no?

I think it's a personal thing.I don't think you will kill anymore or any less coyotes by wearing a mask and gloves though. But hey,if you think you look cool with them on that's all that matters.LOL

My choice is to wear a face mask whenever I am predator hunting. For me, davr mirrors my thoughts on the subject pretty well.

What camo does is allow you some (or more) movement than had you not been wearing it. I go calling to enjoy myself, not be tortured.

Sure, you can sit rock still and be fine without camo, but that drastically decreases the enjoyment of the experience for me.

I, for one, do not sit totally still 100% of the time I am on stand. I do move my hands and arms to raise the calls up to my mouth. I move my head back and forth when calling to get the sounds directed left, straight out, and to the right. I move my head, even though very little, when not calling, so I can view the areas around me and not just 180º, but I turn my head enough so I can see maybe an additional 25º to 30º beyond that as well. For me, it just makes more sense to have as much of my body camoed up as possible, especially my head, hands and arms because those are the parts of my body that move the most when I am on stand.

I also have to side in with ballistic_trep about the face mask keeping my face toasty warm. I hunt predators from about the end of October through the end of February and the wind and cold temperatures can make it very miserable on your facial skin and hands if you don't use a little common sense and wear a mask. I prefer camo masks--some type of brown, desert type camo in those seasons where there is a lot of dead prairie grass to blend in with and white ski masks for those times when there is lots of the white stuff on the ground.

However, I certainly don't begrudge you non-mask, non-camo types your right to go out there in the buff to try to call in coyotes. Just don't come crying to me when you get those cacti needles in your bare behind /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif As a matter of fact, if you are out there in the buff--JUST DON'T EVEN TRY TO GET NEAR ME!!! Not sure I could stand such a frightening sight /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wear one for all my duck and pred. hunting except when there is snow, my beard is full and white and stands out against any backgound except snow. Before it turned white it worked well to camo my face and didn't bother with a mask.
