Factory rifles that shoot 1/2 MOA all day long?

I purchased a Tikka T3X Varmint and even with factory loads it is close to 1/2 MOA. I can't wait to see once I can get some tailored loads for it.

I've got a couple with the right loads. My model 12 in .204 will, my Remington 700 in .243 will with my 58 grain Vmax load. Sendero 25-06 is really close too.

I have 3 Ruger V/T's that will, 204, 22-250 and 25-06. It didn't happen over night, but once I figured out what each one liked it was attainable.

The title says half moa all day. Not 1/2" @ 100 yards. I thought I would see more 5" 1k yard groups. How about 3" @ 600 yards?

This rifle is up to it. The shooter, not so much any more.

YES/NO! My Cooper M54 Phoenix 22-250 will but I don't know how long. After a hour or hour & a half I get tired & then it doesn't. That's assuming the wind cooperates. I also have a Sako Quad with a 10 oz. trigger in 17HMR that will do it with a certain lot of ammo & again very little or no wind. These are both at 100 yards.

My center fire bench shooting goes like this. While shooting groups, I wait 1 full minute before getting ready for the next shot. I wait 10 to 15, minutes depending on the temperature outside, between groups. That's just how I do it.

When the weather is bad, I just turn around & go home. Not going to shoot bad groups that get me to second guessing my hand loads. Sorry for rambling,

Sorry if don't believe most of you. Take old Betsy and shoot five, five shot groups on one target that agg a .5" and post it here. Factory Stock rifles only, no custom barrels, no bedding, no 40X or other customs.

I'm very impressed Reddog and HM. I don't care if those are factory rifles or customs. 1/2 moa at those distance proves not only the rifle, but also the shooter.

I'm the only one so far who has posted a target with multiple groups, 2 targets actually. My factory rifle is bedded but I did it myself in my garage and it required no special tools.

My Marlin XS7 243 Win will with my 85gr handloads. Shot groups as small as .312 at 100 yards. It's only a sporter barrel, so when it heats up of course the groups open up.

"Usually shoots in the .5's" is not 1/2 MOA all day long.

Now I'm not trying to rag on anyone, or their rifle. To be honest, any factory rifle that generally shoots in the .5's is a dang fine shooting rifle. I would take that any day for a varmint or calling rifle.

But lets be honest here. "1/2 MOA all day long" means something different to me. Shoot 5 different, five shots groups on one piece of paper, with an average of under .524" (1.047"/2), and then I will say your factory sporter shoots 1/2 MOA all day long. And sure, there are some factory rifles that will do that, and better. But there dang sure aren't as many out there as folks make out.

If you haven't ever tried putting 5, 1/2 MOA groups on one sheet of paper, I suggest you try it. Most folks haven't ever actually tried to. I promise you will come away with a new respect for what a true 1/2 MOA rifle (and shooter) really is.

wonder how many guys would jump on a $1000 bet knowing that they loose the $1000 if they cant cut the 1/2 moa mustard 10 out of 10 times in a day?

bet there would not be many bets made. good thing is, it dont cost anything to say you have rifles that will do it.

I've only seen a couple bona fide .5 MOA factory rifles in my life. They do exist. But are pretty rare, in my experience.

I don't think Dirty Dog is claiming that his is one. From the pictures, it obviously isn't.

been through a bunch of rifles in my time. i would guess way more than most guys. i have never had one. worse yet, i never knew anybody that had one.

i never won the lottery either. but i do know a guy that did. i never have been the lucky type. lol

I have followed this thread since it started; it is interesting to me the different perspectives.

I have/had a savage 10 in 223 that shot extremely well with a 68 hornady match bullet hand load. However, I never really sat down and shot groups with it; most of my paper shooting is to test loads for shooting critters. The one time a co worker and I used it at a training we both posted groups under 1.5" at 300 yards, and when we were dialing in for the training it shot very good groups. That barrel has been 'retired' but was a dandy and shot a variety of loads well, it's replacement doesn't seem to be quite as good over all, but maybe I have not found the loads it likes as well.

I guess that is the long way around saying that there may be more guns that could be in the half moa class that are never really tested. I have always kinda of wondered how many horses or people have never trained or had the opportunity to race that could be world beaters, too.
