Fall Turkey

Fall turkey opens tomorrow (Nov 11)and I have no idea on how to hunt fall turkey. I've heard that the idea is to scatter the flock, and then try to pick off birds trying to "reflock".Anybody got any other ideas. Seems that I'm livin right in the middle of one of the better counties in California for turkey. This will be my second hunt for turkey, first for wild turkeys. Many years ago, I raised a dozen 'American Bronze' turkeys, and when it came time to 'harvest' a few of them, I snaged one of them by the foot and looped his head, was not so easy with the next one. Chased that one around the yard several times before I caught him. When I came out the next day with the same intent, the remaining 10 turkeys wanted nothing to do with me. So, ok. Shot the next bird in the head with a .22. The very next time I stepped out of the house with my .22, all of the turkeys faded off into the brush. My son and I hunted them on our place for the rest of the day and never saw them again. Ever!
