Farley Coaxial Rest?

I am having the barrel on the T/C Encore in the picture cut down from 18" to 16" and having it fluted to reduce weight and overall length for use with a sound suppressor. With that will come the usual handloading for best group ritual. I want to purchase the best rest I can buy, within reason, to take the shake factor out of my group size and not waste so much ammo during the sight-in process.

Has anyone had any experience with the Farley Coaxial II?

The Farley rest certainly is up there with the best... but for your needs, it is not "... within reason", unless you just want to spend money and "one up" the guys at the range.

The rest is not what makes accuracy - you can use a $50 rest and get the very same accuracy.

The Farley has features that you will never use, designed for other applications.

Spend your money on ammo and top of the line loading stuff.

There's a guy at the range with a $800 Farley Co-ax rest. It's a well made HEAVY purpose built rest. He shoots BR score matches exclusively with his custom built 30 BR. His buddy who has the Caldwell BR Rock ($160) and shoots a bone stock Savage FT/R .308 usually wins or places 2nd or 3rd. The Savage shooter spends a lot of time behind the gun and reading the wind flags.

Catshooter is right. I'd buy a $300 Sinclair rest and spend the rest on ammo and practice.

I use the Caldwell BR rest and would give it an 8 out of 10. It aint no Farley, but you can tweek it abit and will serve you well. I replaced the bag on the front with a better one and it works just fine. Their warranty is excellent also. FREE PARTS. NO HASSLES!!! JMO. I can't afford a Farley anyway.

I have tried several free rests (hood of the pickup type), moved on to sandbags and then to purchasing rests like my current model. It has way too much slack to suit me.

I built a shooting table from some scrap metal at my shop to serve as a sturdy shooting platform.

I was not satisfied with camera tripods for mounting my chronograph so I built a fold over mount for my shooting table.

I wish I had all the money back that I spent on various rests. That money would have paid for the Farley Coaxial II that I just ordered...
