Looking for experiences in .223, 60-69 gr. bullets. Wanting to see what everybody's favorite for coyotes. Saving fur is not a concern.

Running a 1:8 ARP barrel.

Have looked into the following, just looking for real results on coyotes:

65 gr. Gameking SBT
60 gr. V-Max
69 gr. HPBT sierra

Sierra 65gr Game King with 24 grs of Xterminator. Knocks the crap out of pigs and yotes. You do have to put them in the neck or head if it is a big pig.

I just got my first box of 65 gamekings and worked up a load with them using CFE223 and they sure shoot well, haven't gotten a coyote with them yet but I will.

I will be comparing them with my new 53 vmax load this winter to see what I like more.

When all I had to hunt coyotes with was a 223, I shot 65 gamekings and they did fine.

I would not trust a 69 matchking to expand reliably, but the 68 Hornady works well.

I have witnessed many die from a 60 gr vmax, but I couldn’t ever get them to shoot well from that particular rifle.

Where are you located?

I killed mostly pigs with mine which are usually less than a hundred yards . On the smaller ones 40 to 80 pounds i got a pass through with about a 1" exit wound. DRT most of the time. No losses.

I have thought about trying Barnes TSX or TTSX bullets as well. I am in Tyler area. Thought about trying the 60gr as well, but wanting to try something a little different than the v-max.

I shot the 65s out of my 22-250 and got one coyote. He was at 250yards I hit him in the shoulder from the front low it broke the shoulder leg and went through his body and exit by his boys. It’s a tough bullet. A guy we hunt deer with shot a buck with the 65g out of an16” ar and killed the deer just fine.

What powder charges did you test? I started at 25-26.5 in .5 increments.

I don't know why you want to use such a heavy bullet on coyotes that have thicker jackets????

ON a heavy bullet, 60g V max would be my first choice because it will open up better.

I shot 55g Sierra BTHP out of my Colts with 7 twists with 1" or tad bit better accuracy which killed a dozen or so coyotes very HARD.

65g Sierra and 64g Winchester are great deer and hog bullets.
