What is your favorite free float tube for a rifle length 20" barrel??Used mostly for predator hunting?? Send some pics if you got em!!! All price ranges even the "money is no object" tubes!!! Appreciate it!!!!

I prefer the plain aluminum, YHM brand, knurled free float tube. Any of the tubes with rails will gouge your hands and are heavy. Add the guards to the rail types...you are just adding weight.

So far i have used YHM customizable, bushmaster varminter, and just got one from specialized dynamics they are all nice. The YHM customizable comes with a short and a long rail you can add on if wanted. The prices if i remember are $120 or so for YHM $110 bushmaster and $75 for the SD. Quality on all of them are good.

I own a few rail tubes, none gouge my hand. I also own a 12" Seekins Sar Rail that is lighter then a Magpul plastic handguard of the same length.

So I guess it depends on the quality of the handguard.

I use the YHM smooth float tubes.

They are smooth for most of the tube so your hand doesn't get knarled up on the rails but have rails out near the end so you can still mount your light and whatnot. Plus a full rail on the top so optics placement is no issue.

Down side...it's a bit heavy, and all aluminum so it's really cold. I wrap mine in camo wrap, partly for the camo, partly to keep my hands from freezing.

I am sort of fond of Midwest Industries free-float tubes. I have them on 4 or 5 of my ARs. They have them with rails machined in or and smooth with customizable rail sections. They are relatively inexpensive and light weight.

I really like mikes at dtech easy to install just wish I could get one , never can get him to order and don't see where on his site one can be ordered. Also like the jp vtac just kinda spendy

Pm him on here. That's how I got a hold of him.

I'll also give a vote for the MI Gen 2 SS rails, nice and light. I put the 15" tube on a 20" barrel and like it. Going to try a 13.5" Noveske NSR on a 18" build, just shipped from Midway and ordered it in November.

Regarding the Gen 2 rail on your 20" barrel.. What is the length of barrel left exposed ?? Basically the measurement of the barrel from the end of the FF Tube to end of barrel...Thanks!!

I have a YMH custom and really like it. Feels substantial and being able to put the rails where I need them is great.
