Favorite Sling

I just picked up Safai Sling a couple days - nice sling. Nice to be able to carry your rifle across your chest and have your hands free to pack them yotes out.
 
In my opinion, absolutely nothing will beat the all-around utility of a 1" military leather sling. Like any other leather item, it needs to be treated for water resistance, scuffing, mildew, etc. as was stated in a previous post, but so do leather boots, gloves, and even leather car seats! Every time I see someone touting the use of shooting sticks, I have to wonder why no one seems to remember how to stand up on their hind legs and shoot like God intended, or drop into a sitting or kneeling position and "sling up" (which is really hard, if not impossible, to do with a synthetic sling).
 
Try murraycustomleather.com This guy is out of Texas I believe and I have to say he makes the best slings I've ever used. First of all the leather is beautiful. The strap is 1 1/4" wide which makes for easy shouldering especially if you have a heavy rifle to sling. He'll even add swivels if you want. Price runs about $50 bucks. I wish I had one of these on all of my rifles.

I like the 1" military leather sling also I use one on my sniper rifle, I think that once you know how to properly use one there really is know need for any others. There are some variants of that sling that I've used in the nylon version all have had the loop but I've found they break under stress, so I've kept with what has worked for so long.

I have and like an (I think) and uncle mike. My hunting partner swears by a Claw sling.

Personally, I doesn't matter much to me. A sling is a sling is a sling.

One tip I have heard but never tried. If using a miitary type sling - sew a button onto the shoulder of your hunting coat. It supposedly keeps the sling from sliding off.

Vero-Vellini, Does not slide at all. Most of the time, my rifle is in my hands, especially on the way in. On the way out, it is usually to dark to shoot, so it is on my shoulder, unless I'm dragging. Butcher
