Feaky neighbor problems

Heres a short run down
He is 2 doors down from me, has been busted by the law for drug offences, had others busted at his house for cooking meth on his patio. Just a real problem. Now he has erected this monument in a tree in his back yard. Normally I dont have a problem with people doing what they wish on their own property, however the freak show now has a clear view of 5 or so back yards and what ever happens in them. I understand if someone builds a 2 story house, I dont have a choice, but to be outside and have this guy looking over you is not a pleasant feeling. He just got it finished yesterday, but no dout when the weather gets warmer he will be up there at night too, just when the little lady and I want to be out in the hot tub. We do have an HOA guess who is the prez......yea Furhunter is cause nobody else wants it, plus its a loose group anyhow. I am going to compose a letter, but dont remember anything about scaffolds in the covenants, I have yet to call the law about some peeping tom protection, might check into that. My buddy next door asked him what the hell he was doing? He replied "I never had a tree house when I was a kid" This guy is in his 50's and looks like he is 70, used up for sure.

How would you feel about this, what would you do.

This is from my patio, hes got it a good 50' in the air.

4 little letters, OSHA. That looks unsupported to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. $10,000 fines are a drop in the bucket for them.

Looks like a safty hazzard to me. But it will give you plenty of time to pick him off before he can make it to safety. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You may be able to get him on build erecting safe scaffolding He is supposed to be either secured to building or have some sort of anchoring system for something that high call osha he will want pack up his crack pipes and move

Got zoning ?
Height restrictions ?
Need building permit ?
Is it structuraly sound (ie, imminant hazard in wind storm)
Try to make a sink about it with city building inspector.
Plan B: Get neighbors together with a lawyer.
There is an **xhole born every minute.
Good luck.

Yea but its not on a job site?

The saftey avenue would be a good idea.

I would explain it to him this way "I never had a blow dart gun when I was a kid"

I just almost peeded myself...thanks! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

He'll get bored with it in a week. Most crack heads couldn't climb to the top of that thing more than once and after that they would be too lightheaded to stay long.

I do get a small amount of satisfaction knowing that I am not the only one who has a meth/crack/doper living next door. They just hauled mine off a week ago...for good. Seems he was ripping off fellow neighbors to support his problem, got caught on camera and they took him to the pokey.

"I never had a treehouse as a kid" hmmmm, go with that theme and say you never got to chop down a tree as a kid either and therefore want to experiment on your metal scaffolding with my cutting torch. Then again, maybe he has seen the light and now considers this to be the only "high" that he is going to get. I think the HOA avenue might be the one. 2 and 1/2 gainer would be cool though if you talk him into it at night with your spotlight on him.

I think you need a late model Ford Crown Vic with black wall tires and tinted windows to park down the street so he thinks the DEA is watching him. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Most municipalities have a code enforcement division for neighbors that wont keep up thier property and such , give the city a call. Whether or not that scaffold is on a jobsite it must be secured it is a saftey hazard and the city or county should hear about it. Try to distance yourself from the problem and remain anonymous this wingnut may cause you some grief if he knows who called.
Then again you may get lucky and he'll fall off!

I would hes gonna take care of himself. That this is already twisted. Wait for the first good wind and it'll be laying in the yard.

If I had to deal with a "Freaky" neighbor, I can get a little "Freaky" myself...

If there it not recourse through normal channels (HOA, City/County Zoning, etc,) then you are not controlled by them as well...

I would quietly talk to the adjoining neighbors that are most affected by the "Tree House" and, hopefully they all have shotguns,.. The next time he gets up there, I'd get some shotgun shells with the shot removed and start 'shooting' birds or clay pigeons, especially the ones that flew in his direction... Just make sure they are blanks.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Outdoor spot lights would even allow practice after dark /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

This may take care of itself very quickly. The first good windstorm will take it down. Of course a piece of 1/2" rope hooked to the back of your ATV would speed up the process.

Of course the best option is to let your local LEO handle it. It's a safety hazard to the public.

That is a work of art!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
