Federal Power Shok w/ speer hot-cor

While at a local shop this past week, I came across boxes of Federal Power Shok ammo, .300 Win Mag, loaded with 150 gr Speer hot-cor bullets. At 10 bux a box, I couldnt pass it up even if it ends up being just to burn for brass ( I got 20 boxes). I have never shot or loaded speer hot-cor bullets ( I am a Nosler and Barnes kinda guy most of the time)but understand they are an attempt to create a bond between jacket and core... I get that much. How tough are they in reality? Reason I ask is that I hunt deer in a power line right away where most shots are long but can be as close as 20 yards. Will hot-cors hold up at nearly 3300 fps out my 26 inch barreled .300 win mag, if I get a close shot?

I am not sure but what I can tell you is that this is what I have shot for a couple of years out of my .308 and they are very accurate and put my deer down at 310 yards this past year. They have also put down a couple of Elk with no problem.

I have shot these out of my 30-06 the past 2 years. Six deer where shot at, 5 recovered, one not. These bullets were loaded at 3000fps. Four of deer I did not hit any bone in or out getting complete pass throughs and DRTs. One deer was shoulder shot and never recovered(it had to be a huge buck). The deer slammed to the ground, got back up and ran away never to be seen again. I trailed it for a good couple of hundred yards before the trail dried up. The other deer was was shot right behind the front should and the bullet splashed the shoulder on the other side comming apart and never harming the bone. The deer ran a good fifty plus yards acting like it wasnt even shot with absolety no blood trail before dropping. Needless to say I switched back to the shoulder breaker 180g Core-locts. At 3300fps I would not recommend these bullets. They are too soft of a construction if bone is hit. Its probably a good Antelope round at best.
