Feral Cat Hunting

I really like popping them with the 22-250. It isn't fur friendly but you can reach out and touch them! My personal best so far is one at 255 yds and one at 235 yds.

The live trap with sardines, as the others have mentioned, has accounted for a few more.

Our house cat is not much of a fighter and he was getting his butt kicked regularly. The vet bills were quite impressive until I started to thin the population on our farm.

Take care.

The last one I "harvested" was with my bow, on a late-season bow hunt. Previously we'd been shooting them with .22s, and they always seemed to get up and haul @ss a good distance. Well, this time, kitty shows up about 20yds from my treestand and I draw back my bow, settle my sight pin on his front shoulder and give him a little squeak. He stops and looks, and my 100gr Montec drills him. He didn't make it a dozen steps. Of course, hard for him to run with both shoulders smashed and a quarter-sized hole through both lungs.

Will they readily come to any call?

try kitten in distress or rodent sounds, bait is better though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I get about 2 a year around here, (in town, kind of!)
