Feral cats

Nothing we don't know. But a bit more ammo for the "cause".

I put 3 more out of the game on Friday. Used MKIII hunter on 2 & the Armalite AR7 on the 3rd. I was getting ready to do some 22 plinking when I came across the mini colony. 1 was a young pregnant female & the 2nd was a young male. The 3rd a bit older, wiser, & aloof. I thought she was a good one to see how accurate that survival rifle is, probably a 30yd shot. The underbrush even being bare was still pretty thick. With the rear peep & front blade sights, I'm satisfied.

Look up the definition of the word pet. Chances are if you have a pet, you control it & it doesn't roam free. Also, most pets do get out or loose on occasion but generally have some sort of collar on. Even with a collar if it is roaming free, it's probably a nuisance to someone else. Cats & dogs kill for sport, not just to eat. They dig holes, damage property, [beeep] all over the place. They even cause general anxiety in people that are afraid of them. I have a sister that was attacked by a standard poodle almost 40 years ago & is terrified of dogs. This isn't a bully dog breed or some media hyped breed. My opinion, it's irrational but not my fear; I didn't get attacked. Long story short, if it's running loose it won't be for long. I know my neighbors & they're pets, which do get out on occasion. They don't get shot, although I will fire to run them off. Just for reference, I have both cats & dogs as pets.

That frigging woman was bat chit crazy, cats named after her favorite oracles Newt and Rush, giving them a whole package of cat treats while she takes a bath. I rest my case about right wingers.

Twenty years ago, we owned and operated a very nice B&B in a small town...The crazy neighbors next door kept feeding seventeen stray cats...Always insisted that they were not their cats, but continued to feed them...

One morning when we had guests, one of the reported that when they went to get something out of their car, a couple of the cats ran at them as if to attack and were growling...

For the next two weeks, I live trapped 14 of the 17 and took them across the MO river and gave them underwater swimming lessons....I guess that I'm a poor instructor, as non survived except one and he was playing possum until I dumped him out of the trap...He took off down through the river bottoms and I've never seen him since...

Until she died, the old lady was always wondering what happened to 'her' cats...

At the time, I had both a cat and a dog, but they stayed in our living quarters and didn't run loose...

Took an awful offhand shot tonight with the 357 mag. I was after an opossum & stopped to piss. That's when the mongrel tom stepped into view. He will be back!

Got shots off on 5 cats last night. This time I used the Thompson Contender .223 with an EWT XLR250 kill light mounted. One that was gut shot crawled to the rear of my truck to die. He was a quite large burly tom. The yotes, buzzards, or whatever other scavengers will enjoy him!

Hey Texas Joe, I am having an absolutely terrible time with the next door neighbor hoarding cats. I paid good money for my home and property to sit and watch rabbits birds and all wildlife in general. Now with this "CITY BOY" Buckeye we call the around here, because they migrate out of the cities of Ohio, I am in the beginning stages of Round 2 with cat hoarding. Last time I spent 6 months and over 30 drives to the deeper country to relocate these cats. Took 5 years for the wildlife to replentish, now the POS is at it again. I have about 4 cats that keep slipping away.

Anyone reading this: How can I call these cats in at a specific time and pop them? I do not have time to sit at the window all day waiting for their hit and miss activity. Thanks

I am wondering if I can call cats in? I am sick and tired of finding piles of bird feathers in the back yard, and rabbit hair. The cats around here have got to go. I was wrong for relocating cats 5 years ago and now I will be taking them out.

use bait. put it out at same time everyday. dont leave it over night for the perps to dine at their leisure. when you finally catch them with their head down, use something quiet. [beeep]

You'll get more hassles in this state for shooting a cat than you would a person.

the whole reason for quiet hard shooting accurate pellet guns. hear no evil, see no evil, and can't prove no evil. lol

Whatever you do don't relocate them , cool then off to the outside temapature. My dogs let me know they are out back and i go for the hornet.

We have had good luck traping them in cage type traps and then feeding them a lead pill.

I think Sardines worked good , I will check with my dad.

I've had one big striped tom that would show up on my trail cameras at my coyote bait pile on the hill. I could never catch up with him seeings as he would come around 12 or 1 in the afternoon and I've got better things to do than sit around waiting for a cat. So friday night I set an ice cream bucket full of food scraps behind my house to see what i could pick up in the spotlight at night. Well I'll be danged if I didnt look out the window at 2 today and there was something with its head in the bucket. lets just say the .17hmr did its job. I used to like cats until I read this thread. Now I don't ever let them walk!
