FFL transfer fees are awful!!

$75 for a transfer? You need to get as far away from that shop as possible. Sounds way to greedy when it costs me $15 where I'm at.

$25. A lot of gun shops wan to sell you their stuff, so they charge a rediculous amount to discourage transfers. You have to shop around some.

$25 at the closest shop.
$10 at the shop by my job.

Stopped dealing with the only Pawn shop in town that carries firearms when they went from $15 to $50. Why not just hang a sign that says "No transfers?"

The shop I use charges 25$ . Another shop charges 75$ Guess its their way of making $ even though they didn't sell the gun

$30 at the shop I use, and that was about $5 higher than most other shops, but it's just so close to me and easy to use.

$75 is a screw job. The comparison to what the shop would have made had they sold you the gun is off base because they didn't have to carry the inventory with all the related expenses. By doing a transfer, they are doing 15 minutes worth of work to drop $25 to the bottom line.

Also, this idea that the little gun shop is getting hosed because it's all "big dealers" on the internet is bull. Lots of the dealers on the net are small shops who have taken the initiative to expand their business by selling on the net. It isn't just the big guys anymore, now it's just as likely to be the little guy.

If that place that's charging $75 for a transfer is hosing people to try to punish them for buying on the net, they're trying to hold back the tide with a teaspoon. Quit crying about it and join the party. Any gun dealer who is NOT selling on the internet nowdays must be retarded because with the crazed panic buyers out there snapping up guns at stupid prices, that's where the money is. Sad, but true.

Grouse

Ok its Accurate Firearms LLC in Clarkston... I will definitely find somewhere else. I dont care for his business practices in other aspects as well. If u want a gun he doesnt have, when he orders it, you have to pay for his shipping on top of the gun!

Phuck that.

At $75.00. it sounds like he's just not interested in doing transfers. They are kind of a pain in the a$$ to do, but he's missing an opportunity to sell you companion products for your new gun. I don't do much retail, but I don't mind transfers, as they get new faces into my Gunsmith Shop and a great many of them generate new work for me. Profit is not a dirty word, guys. Shops need profit to keep the doors open and patronizing your local dealer/gunsmith is smart, but only if you want there to be local dealers and gunsmiths. I charge $25.00 per transfer, but I am a one man show and would really rather be building and repairing guns with my time than doing paperwork for the Feds. Paperwork is time, and time is money.

Thanks CAFR You understand what I was trying to say.And I forgot to say that I do agree that $75.00 is a little to much for a transfer. But I guess the store can charge what ever they want to for transfers. But a retail store with several employees will have a hard time making any profit while doing transfers at $10.00 to $20.00 each.

The guy that I usee charges $15, I just found him a year or so ago, before that the cheapest I could find was like $35, some guys refuse to do it because they say its a hassle, other guys have told me $50 or 10% of the purchase price whichever is greater, sorta takes away the bargain.
