Filtering spring water??

I have a really good year round spring that feeds my pond.. I want to start drinking it instead of the municipal water we have.. The only problem is that the head of the spring is across the fence on my neighbors place.. I know that coons opossums and deer come to the spring and I'm sure every once in a while they take a dump after getting a drink of water... My idea is to build a small dam on my side, install a sediment filter and run pvc about 100 yards into a small collection tank.. 30 gallons or so.. My question.. Should I boil this on my fish cooker 5 gallons at a time, or.. Is there a filter made that I can buy that will clean it enough so I don't catch giardia or some other microscopic crap?? Thanks

Look into dripper type osmosis filters, they filter out all of the biological things that are bad for you. There are quite an array of them available that can keep up with any demand. You could even fill plastic food drums and use a pump to water flowers and garden plants with unfiltered water.

There are online discount filter stores that sell all filter types really cheap, they have customer service people you can call who could point you in the right direction.

You could run into a holding tank and then pump it where you want. A chemical engineer that I go to church with builds water treatment stations for third world children to have clean water. The best I remember he said 1, 3 inch chlorine swimming pool puck will treat 10000 gallons of water. You can probably google that info.
