First 2 rock chucks of the year!

My wife informed me that she wanted to shoot a rock chuck. She has recently taken more of an interest in hunting with me, so I decided that since the weather was nice we would head out and give it a shot. We got a later start than I was hoping for, but we did manage to each get one. She shot hers at about 90 yards with my 22-250. I shot mine at about the same range with the 22-250 as well.

She is hooked now! I even got her to hike up a steep stretch of 350 yards with me to try and verify a hit on another chuck. Found a little blood but no critter.
Hopefully there will be a few more to come!

Shucks, Tater! If you want to save ammo just come on over here to Emmett and take a nice drive down Black Canyon Hwy!

I am hoping for a good year for the critters. Been plenty of snow and rain for them. Seen quite a few ground squirrels running around already. Know someone over in SW Wyoming that says it looks to be a prairie dog boom at his ranch and wants some help to take care of a few thousand of them. I will do my very best to help him out come June I think.

That's good to hear.
It's looking like an early spring this year.
I'm happy to see the chucks are coming out to check on the spring time grasses.
I'm getting an itchy trigger finger.
I hope to smell gun powder in the morning, very soon.
Thanks for the post.
