First coyote hunt of season

Went out on family farm tonight. My first solo coyote hunt. Upstate NY. Thank you to hunt0168 for some excellent instructions and how to's! Unfortunately nothing came to the caller. I eventually heard some dogs sound off a mile or further away across a valley. Snow was deeper than I had hoped at a foot on average. Foxpro Patriot caller. A Mojo Critter decoy. All worked fine. Just nothing to show for it.

Hope to go again next weekend. Would be nice to get a few of the coyotes we've been seeing on trail cameras lately.

Stick with it, Steve. I hope you get your chance buddy.

As I said, with these snow depths we’ve had, the aren’t willing to leave the timber into those open fields at all lately. We should lose some snow this coming week.

From the pics you sent me I would concentrate on the area where that brushy wooded finger / creek intersects the woods and coverges with what looks like a secluded field. With the weather we’ve had, they’ll often use a creek as a path of least resistance for travel and a general water source if it’s flowing at all. I would totally get in that area with a shotgun during first / last daylight. Maybe even pack both a shotgun and rifle and try to cover the creek bed and that interior clearing as well if possible? Hard to say without actually knowing the property?
