Dang guys.
I like to post a story and pics but here's the nitty gritty. 55 Nolser BT,65 Game King,69 SMK,77 Nolser CC,90 SMK were shot. Conditions were varying winds and temps were 45-63.
I used 8208,H4895,AA 2520,AA 4064,RL15 Big Game, H380, CFE All 450 primers. All freshly formed cases from Hornady Hagar. 8 twist Tactical Ordnance 5 polygon 24"
Speeds max at :55- 3754; 65- 3532; 69- 3282; 77- 3180; 90- 2753 All through a LabRadar.
Primers were all nice and round except those with 2520 and they were just a little flat. Across the board I found that I was not at the top on most. Ejector coining was virtually nonexistent. No extractor damage to any rims. The 69's are certainly lower than they can be.
This was a test for pressure and speed mostly with groups to see what tantalizes me. Not all bullets got three powders but each powder got three levels. Across the board only one combination failed to give me sub-MOA on the groupings. The best group shot was a 0.381 with the 77, a couple 5's and many 6-7's. I shot three groups with the 90's and had to laugh. They should not stabilize but they flew nice and had no tipping. This is not a magazine bullet and are used at long range single shot so they were loaded out to 2.460.
Just studying the powder charts for a SWAG at charge weights and deciding on mostly 2.300 seating depth except on the 90's as mentioned above I feel the first test was a success. Ideally I would not be switching from powder to powder during the testing as this imparts some unpredictability in groupings same as change bullet jacket material. The component swapping was why I was not overly concerned with getting the ultimate accuracy.
The new chamber will be considerably shorter and based on what I did Ritch I are very excited to see what will happen. We suspect that it will tighten things up even more.
No coffee yet so this is probably rough. I'll write a bit more later with more explanations.
