First scope mount-Tikka T3

So I pick up my Tikka T3 tomorrow and I have a Leupold 3x9 40mm waiting for it. The only scope I've mounted was on a one piece mount on my AR. I began looking at rings and bases; so confusing. The Tikka comes with rings but they are a silver color and I want black. Looked at Leupold rings but not sure which to get or which bases. Hopefully the store, Scheels, will be helpful.

The next problem is I don't have a tool kit to mount the thing. I figured I at least need a torque screwdriver. I don't have the measuring tools or lapping tool either. How do you guys without the tools mount your scopes? Want it done right and don't know of a gunsmith in my area.

We buy them so we can mount our scopes.

If we don't have them and don't wanna buy them, I guess we have somebody do it for us.

I looked at these on SWFA. I like the one piece design. Would these require any lapping or is it a crap shoot? I do need to invest in the proper tools but I don't have an unlimited budget.

I will look more at the dnz and maybe some more guys will post their experiences. Thanks.

Mine didn't require lapping. Just screw the base in then make sure scope is level then screw the rings in and your good to go

Yep, I put these on my Tikka about a year, maybe year and a half ago....no regrets. Good product, make sure you give them a good cleaning/wipedown before you install. No lapping required, that is one of the advantages of the one piece design, and on the flat top Tikka they snug down real nice. Level the scope and torque the screws all there is to them.

Only thing I wish was different on them is that I wish they had 4 screws on each ring instead of 2, not that I have an issues under recoil, just me and my anal preferences. Also, if you read the small print on their website, the use of Loctite on the screws will void the warranty...so your call on that....I used a little, but is just my anal preferences again lol.

I put the Warne scope mounts on my Tikka and love them. They are a little bit heavier but I think they are worth the extra weight. They also do not cause much damage to your tube.

The factory Tikka rongs are not bad, especially on the light recoiling guns. I kept the factory rings on my .204, .223 and 22-250. I had the .223 ceracoated and I put on a do it yourself camo job on my 22-250. No more solver rings.

One more vote DNZ

I've never really had the need to lap rings, but get a set of Burris Signature rings and you'll never have to worry about ring marks or a scope shifting again. I use them with Weaver style bases.

I ordered the DNZ mount today; picked up my rifle as well. Really like it, a little more plastic on it than I would like but I don't forsee any problems. Leveling the scope was mentioned, how do I go about that? With a small level? Sorry for the simple questions, been a bow and shotgun with iron sites hunter my whole life. Thanks.

Money well spent. I have 7 Dnz mounts on most of my hunting rifles and rimfires. A small level will work just fine. I have a small magnetic one i got at a local hardware store it works fine and is cheeper then then the gunsmithing levels.
