Well, thanks to the brave souls here on the board that have blazed the trail before me I have finally painted my first gun, it didn't turn out quite as good as hoped, but I'm pretty happy with it for my first try
Hey, thanks a lot guys, means a lot. It did definitely turn out better than I expected, but I did figure out quite a few tricks and ideas that I'm hoping will help the next one turn out even better. And for the record, once I got started it was a lot easier than i thought it would be. Just used a light OD for the base and then some cheap grass for a stencil with sand beige and light grey, and then used leopard print I printed out and cut into a stencil with dark OD on top.
Chicken,Chicken, Chicken. Had to pick on an old smoke pole for your first try. Still looks pretty good though. Now go get one of your good ones and give it a try!!
Yeah, true story, I painted it in advance.... none of our seasons open for another month and a half, so fall and early winter are target times... I'd like to do a snow job to, but most of the guns I use are multi seasonal so I figured a washed out color scheme would be a good all around choice
Looks like one of the European military camos, were you ever in the Polish Army?
Just kidding, that should do a damned fine job of breaking up the outline of the gun. My first attempt ended up with several coats because it looked like crappola. Hard to do to a good gun right off the bat, my first was a Hi-Point carbine, two cans of Krylon doubled the value of the gun...
